The RR Velar is the sister car of the Jag F-Pace, and the upcoming E-Pace will be the sister car of the RR Evoque/LR Disco Sports.

 

Both brands will build on each other's strength, or inherit each other's problems and unreliability. It depends on your perspective.

Ya they shared the same Chasis but it seems the tuning and handling are quite different. I never own a LR before but it seems that forumer seems to critical on their reliability. I have two Beemer including the current F10 5 years old since new, frankly not sure one would rave about their reliability. The interior starts deteriorates badly beginning year 4 onwards. My Friend who owns many Beemer told me this is expected.

The Range Rover Velar is a pretty crossover, but in our eyes, it's never had the powertrain to back up those looks. Until now: Meet the 550-horsepower V8-powered Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition.

The name is a mouthful, we know. Basically, this is the SVO-division performance Velar you've been waiting for. It has the same supercharged 5.0-liter V8 found in the Range Rover Sport SVR and Jaguar F-Type R, backed up by an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. Land Rover claims a 0-60 mph time of just 4.3 seconds, and a top speed of 170 mph. This is one quick grocery-getter.

Of course, the engine isn't the only thing that's been updated for the Velar SVAutobiography. On the outside, it gets a new front bumper with larger air intakes to cool the engine and upgraded SVO-specific brakes. There's also a flat under-tray to smooth out the aerodynamics beneath the car, and a revised rear bumper with quad exhaust tips. Lightweight 21-inch forged wheel come standard, while 22-inch diamond-turned wheels are optional. All of the driving interfaces, including the steering, suspension, and electronic differential, have been recalibrated to work best with that new engine.

The interior, save for some twin-stitched leather and a sportier steering wheel, remains largely unchanged, which isn't a bad thing. The digital gauge cluster, dual touch screens, and aluminum shift dial are all still standard. There's also standard 20-way adjustable heated, cooled and massaging seats, as well as illuminated "Range Rover" doorsill plates and metal sport pedals.

According to Land Rover, the Velar SVAutobiography will only be available for a single model year. It's priced at £86,120 in the United Kingdom ($111,706 at current exchange rates). A Land Rover spokesperson confirmed the car will be available in the US later this year, and pricing will be announced in the near future.
