What good stuff in Hanoi .... food, fun, show, massage, shopping, sightseeing, etc? Going soon .... also Halong Bay and Sapa. Heard year end quite cold especially Sapa .... dunno need winter jacket? TIA

Sapa around this time? I went in early Dec before. Can be around ten degree at night. But when sun is out in afternoon it's quite warm high teens...

 

There's nothing much to sight see within Hanoi itself. Just hcm maseolum. Probably the grandest thing in Hanoi. Their war museum is ok. Their other museum is also OK at best. Walk around the lake is nice in winter but bit windy.

 

Halong bay is really windy at times since it's out in sea. Can be really cold in morning.

 

I would concentrate on the above 2 areas. Sapa is quite a quaint place to enjoy the mountain air. Halong Bay is also somewhere unique. It can be nice when u are moored some where and u are the only vessel in the area. Tranquil in a calm bay. U don't get that in Sg.
