Are you sure the noise is from the engine? If you are not moving, it does not have the noise? Then its not the engine problem.

Try to switch of the air-con and hear the difference.

The other possibility is the drive shaft problem or the wheel bearing problem.

If turning left or right gives different level of noises, then it more likely wheel bearing problem.

Hi bro,

Sound not audible with engine running with car in stationary condition.

Turning right or left seems no effect only when cruising above 50 kph.

When you turn left / right above 50km/h (those expressway bend), does the noise get louder?

I suspect its more likely the wheel bearing since its a wear and tear part. You just need to pin point it is the left or right front wheel bearing.

Do note the noise will get louder when your mileage increase. You fuel consumption will be affected due to wheel bearing causes drag.

sounds like a wheel bearing issue

go to one of the workshop here that gives u FOC diagnostic

the last time they jacked up my car (suspected coming from the rear), spin the wheel

ask me to hold onto the suspension shocks while the wheel was free-spinning

the side of the affected wheel bearing, can feel vibration from the shocks while the wheel was spinning

changed the wheel bearing on the affected side, problem solved.

Thanks Mits_jc,

If indeed the wheel bearing is the problem, what is the replacement cost?

Thinking to visit the work shop soon.

Normally 2 to 300 region. If you are keeping the car for long, I suggest to change all four.

Also, I need to do alignment after replacement. Technically it is not needed but somehow, the technicians managed to knock it out of alignment. :we-all-gonna-die:

wheel bearing most likely the workshop will carrot u ask u pay $300, which u can pay to save the trouble, cos they will cover the parts and labor

otherwise to save money, u can do some homework, go buy the affected part from stockist outside.

OEM should be around $70, original prob $90-100 (for my case)

Labour wise can get a workshop to help u replace, straight forward job shouldn't take more than 1h.I got mine done in msia for RM50 (labour)

Hi

Need help

There is this roaring sound from engine compartment when car move off from stationary sounded very rough.

Normally about 2000rpm onwards.

When ok highway which rpm is normally below 2000 there is not significant sound.

This roaring sound will sometimes disappear and it will be smooth like baby but most of time it is around.

Abit like modified exhaust sound but my car is stock.

When in neutral and accelerate there is no sound thus engine should be fine and exhaust not leaking.
