If I am not wrong, the 1.5 petrol turbo kena $10K VES surcharge and the 2.0 Turbo kena $20K VES surcharge.

You must ask the SE at showroom for actual pricing.....SG carmart prices are much higher.

Your are right. Was there a few weeks ago when there was a promo advertised in the papers. $130k for Insignia Diesel and $140k for Insignia Petrol.

That's the main issue.

For a bit more $$, one can aspire to the Merc CLA or even the C Class, so even though this may be a 2l and that's a 1.6, the attraction isn't there..

I think the price has changed.

I doubt AG will sell many here. The pricing is not competitive.  Shame tho, cos it looks great and is well built.

In an adjacent thread, the Audi A4 is around 152k... I can't see the reason to pay 147k for this..

The key word is "aspire".

The insignia is a whole lot larger. Right now, the analogy i can think of is a HDB 5-Room flat Vs a 2-bedroom Condominium. The HDB gives you more space for people, for your things, even comes with a big storeroom. The condominium - not even sure if a queen size bed can fit in the common room, and if i have a queen size bed, can i even have space to walk (cramp rear quarters of CLA), and likely no storeroom too, open kitchen so cannot cook oily food (compromise), got so many facilities so high maintenance cost, 5 years down the road need to refurbish the project but sinking fund not enough ask you to top up (extra high maintenance).

I've had enough of premium brands already because the parts are premium pricing too. Not only that, premium brands also charge premium rates for labour costs when they do general repairs on your cars. Ya ya there are other alternative workshops but a workshop that specialises in Mercedes will cost more than one that specialises for general continental cars.

It depends on priorities. If you have money to burn, then go with a premium brand. And if you think after-sales support is better with premium brands, you may want to do your homework.

If aftersales service, cost of part, labour, repairs, reliability etc is a main consideration, one should not consider European brands at all....look at Japanese or even Korean ones....cheaper and bigger.

My opinion is that a car like Opel should at best be priced along brands like Camry, Teana, Mazda6....not along Merc or BMW or Audi....

Straits Times - 10 March.

At $129,888 is priced similar to Hyundai Sonata.....is this for its showroom or test drive units? Or Diesel basic model ? Edited by Samlimlp

Should be for the diesel variant, non-test drive units.

You must be dreaming. LOL. After all Opel is still a reliable conti brand in the UK(On par with a VW) asking to match the Mazda's 6 asking price of the 136k for the 2-litres insignia is like just asking Tissot to match the price of a Casio. No doubt the price for the 2 litres is on the high side, judging its just a entry level conti. Listing price should be about 180k range to make it attractive.
