We have been lucky with injuries so far regards to first 11.

But cracks are appearing.

Matip, Can, Lallana out.

Heng/ by design/Destiny that we were out of the domestic cups early.

We do not really have the depth to mitigate injuries to 1st team, except for the full backs. Fingers cross...

Very true also

Great tatic dun work without great players.

But notice that klopp's teams - unlike Pep's - often do not have established top-top players. He doesn't buy those too often, but he made them instead.

I think VVD is the only exception, when he paid big bucks to get a big name. Salah and Keita were not really big names when Klopp signed them, but Salah is one now.

Hope Klopp can bring back the good old days.

Time for Pool to deploy 'double decker' bus in return leg .... :secret-laugh:

actually this is the most dangerous way of thinking,

and alot of manager make this mistake.

the only reason pool win this game is the way they play .

u try to def like chelsea, they will eat u whole game

We need to score 2 quick goals early in the match.

Then City need to score 6 and will just knock the ball around till final whistle.

I hope City just concerntrate on taking 3 points against Utd.

:D

know what you mean...

but which team beat Pool and then the manager said put F1 car in London traffic will render the car useless? Did that team manage to hold City? If so, can consider their tactic to see how it worked. I actually hope to see Pool's defence improving. If that aspect of the team improves significantly, then with the potent frontline, it will really be a team to reckon with.

pool's defence has been more steadfast and steadily improving since VVD came in.  not fanciful or spectacular in nature but VVD's role in the defence is surely justified...  Pool no longer concede 3 or 4 goals in a game.. its usually the odd goal or 2.

the 2nd half at anfield will give the team plenty of confidence that actually they can defend well and restrict city significantly.  Pool was no longer in the offensive in the 2nd half and played on the counters..  and to its credit, City couldn't break them down with Karius with no meaningful save to make.

Arsenal beat CSKA Moscow 4-1 in the UEL q-final this morning n they too seem to hv one foot in the last 4 of this competition n a chance to get into next season’s UCL via this route.

Favourites Ath Madrid beat Sporting Lisbon 2-0 to also have a firm grip of the tie.

RB Leipzig beat Marseille 1-0 n Lazio beat Salzburg 4-2 in the other games.

So a good chance of another 5 EPL teams in UCL next season?

Agree that the 75 mil spent on VVD - while initially met with ridicule - might not be excessively expensive given the marked improvement he has brought to the defence. Let's hope he's the missing link to make the defence really mean and tight - by positively influencing his fellow defenders.

I remember last season after gini scored the header at anfield early in the match, Pool also withstood City's onslaught for the rest of the match, reminiscence of the UCL semi-final against Chelsea with the ghost goal...

Let's hope Pool is really the bogey team for City, which will mean as long as play with 11 men, City will struggle  [laugh]

I watched the match last night on internet. Must say that City had a bad day, esp Sane. He had plenty of the ball and was in good positions a number of times, but wasted everything. On a good day, he could have made things very different... Worse for him, he was directly or partly culpable for 2 of Pool's goals, i think...

Must not rule City out altogether prematurely.

Hope gunners can win too.

But they have not had much luck with anything liverpool in recent years.

Hope Keita@Leipzig will not prove gunners' undoing should they meet  [laugh]

nobody is taking the 3 goal for granted. At the Etihad, City is expected to come up swinging and attacking. Pool just need to be careful and make use of the spaces afforded by City in their quest to attack at all costs. Hard to see Pool keeping another clean sheet. On the other hand, should Pool capitalise on the space afforded and nick in the odd goal or 2, City will have a tall mountain to climb to score 5 or 6 goals. That may play on City's defence for sure in that game.

Trent Arnold Alexander has such a effective game against Sane. Credit to the teenager who did well in this game, as compared to recent blunders against Utd and Palace.

City had not been very successful against Pool in recent season, and next week is only the second time they face Pool with VVD. If his calming and commanding presence can yield a shutout, it will be a watershed moment for the previously leaky defence, and hopefully give them a big shot of confidence.

TAA deserved the good break. Still v young, and thrusted into the limelight from the start of the season as Clyne was out. He scored the free kick during UCL qualification - or the team might not even have reach the tournament proper. Did some good work but made a number of high profile mistakes too, esp against youngster Rashford. Glad that against Sane - another promising youngster - he did so well.

both TAA and Robertson are doing well. hope they can continue to improve and be more consistent.

I'm not even ruling them out a little bit ............ 3-0 is a scoreline ManC is perfectly capable of over-coming. In case anyone forgets, a certain team also came down from 0-3 to forever immortalised themselves !!!!

Watched the extended highlights of the clash...MC had their chances but squandered away with poor finishes by their standard.

The thunderous Anfield certainly stroke fear in MC players...Etihad is big but the stands are further away from the pitch than at Anfield. Yet, it’s often under filled with home fans who mostly just sit there “jiak kuay ji “ than cheering. Always prefer to watch them play away with the 1k or so diehard fans who would stand, sing and cheer all the way till the end of the match.

High scoring goals expected...I’m gonna place my bet on 1 and 2 goals though
