Direct drive, i started with the beginner player AT-LP60XBT then this.

But the costly part is the records [sweatdrop]

you need an amp to drive this?

Are vinyl records still being produced nowadays? i always find it weird that there are new players but no new records.

yes the beginner set i mentioned for around $200 is just start/stop where the stylus will go to the vinyl and auto go back after the last track.

i haven't invested in amp yet, dun want to spend so much yet, i just usse RCA cable to connect to cheap powered speak that has build in amp.

saw a few used amp in carousell which i might consider getting later this year.

They never stop producing vinyl record in Europe/US and english LPs are much cheaper. But for mandarin/canton they will reproduce the oldies, not much for the new singers (after 2000?) and some dun even make CDs, mostly go by digital format (spotify, tidal, apple music, etc).

Mandarin/Cantonese LP for younger singers are rare.  I don't think you can find it here.

Vinyl needs amp to sound nice.

I agree with @inlinesix. You need an amp to make the sound rich.

Can buy second hand for amp. No need go buy new one.

You can try him.  🙂

I can't imagine how many functions or buttons an expert level turntable has. Those DJ use one?
