Try to ask for new brake pads and/or brake discs to be replaced?

Seems from other bros comments that it is a common "trait" of BMW very aggressive brake pads.

Could be a trial and error thingy because obviously not everyone driving bimmers face this.

Strangely driving multiple Jap cars, I have not heard such a sound. Usually got squeak means confirm pad is worn.

Fake news. My G30 is so quiet I can hear my breathing and heart beat.

hey guys,

having a problem with my jan 2020 bmw x3, hoping some experienced guys out there can help.

in apr, the front right brake started giving  a squeaky sound when parking/at low speed, but because of CB, scheduled check only for 16 Jun at Performance Kg Arang Service centre (6 week wait).

Checks done, Kg arang CSA said they've cleaned the brakes and squeaky problem solved. Skeptical me was like..ok....u sure? CSA says, no problem run in 200km u should be good.

Squeaky sound come back the very next day. Called the CSA, understably upset cos i dropped the car for a full day with problem unresolved. He explains will need to check with service HQ (Alexandra). I told him, ok it's fine i will call service HQ myself.

Called hotline to explain my predicament. I asked if i could bring car in on 22 Jun to check squeaky problem. In fact it had become more squeaky after the 16 Jun visit. Hotline staff said ok no problem.

22 June (today). Swung by 303 Alexandra during lunch time. Explained my problem to the CSA assigned to me. He told me other owners have raised my problem, so it's quite common and currently there is no known solution from Germany. I asked him, so what does this mean? I drive with the loud squeak that announces my arrival wherever i go? Is this how your cars are expected to function with the loud squeak everytime it brakes? He says the best he can do is clean the brake everytime i bring the car in. I was shocked beyond words. i said my car is 5 months old....and how am i reasonably expected to accept this? would any car owner drive off the workshop with this squeak ? Seeing that i was visibly upset, he suggested setting up an appointment to get the car checked again. Proposed 22 Jul date (one month from today). I was like...errm..i just waited 6 weeks for a service appt which DIDN'T solve my problem, and now u want me to join the queue again?

Anyway, more pertinently, what can i do now? You guys think squeaky brakes are fine for an almost brand new car regardless of warranty? What can i do from here?

Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have the same issue. Went in 2 times to 'clean' the brakes but it still comes back. Like a high pitched squeal like when the brakes are hot.

Seems like we need to raise the issue a few times for them to log a case with BMW Asia.

Anyway, they claim to have a solution to it so I'm dropping my car overnight for the change.

Hi All, just gotten X3 i30 Msports recently. I understand the handling / suspension can be abit stiff/ hard especially when going over humps or brake hard.

Wondered if any expert here knows how to make it a more comfortable driving experience like reduce tyre pressure or damper?

Got this car because my wife likes it but i am not a fan of the drive.

M-Sport package aka Package 337, will by default comes with the M-Sport suspension (lower height and harder dampers/springs). I guess you are one of those who likes the looks of the M-Sport kit and interior bits, but not the less forgiving suspension and bigger wheels. 😁

Since you're already got the car, no point change to adaptive suspension (it will cost you a bomb if installed aftermarket by PML). Best solution is go for Non-RFTs and swap to smaller wheels + higher profile rubbers. But, if I'm you, I won't change a thing and learnt to live with it. Changing to smaller wheels but still on the M-sport suspension is a poor compromise, you don't really get comfort and you sacrifice the original sharpness in its handling.

Went in and thought was going to change parts. In the end was to take photo for HQ to request parts. Scheduled to change the parts next week.

Facelift coming soon...

A prototype of the premium compact SUV has already been spotted testing in Europe, and despite having the front and rear ends covered up, it’s not hard at all to spot the changes. The bumpers will be redesigned, sporting cleaner looks and a slimmer lower air intake under the new grille that seems to have become a bit bigger.

The taillights on this prototype have different graphics and the headlamps carry over, although this is just an early tester and the production models will get new units.

Do not expect any major upgrades in the cabin other than the infotainment system that might get a new software and perhaps a slightly bigger screen, as well as the center console which could get a new gear selector and iDrive controller.

Spoke to the workshop manager...so first they will change brake pads (apparently different model that doesn't create the squeaky sound), if that fails, change brake rotors and if that fails, change brake callipers.

I said I don't wish to send my car in so many times and am running out of patience. So they want to keep the car in workshop for a few days and will try to change all the parts progressively. According to him, BMW Asia wants them to change one part at a time.

So...now i'm waiting for the brake pads to arrive.
