one shop is selling one set $800 newish rim, is that price consider ok?

You can get nicer aftermarket rims with that kind of money. Why go for used stock rims?

They were going as low as 300 for a set without tires in private marketplaces. The pricing had to bring down so low just to be offloaded. That is how much the 18" rims are despised.

Whether rims look nice, depends on each individual. I see so many aftermkt rims so-so only. Many seem to have chosen tyre shop first, then choose rims available.

The stock RS rims are quite nice and very matching to the Octy in my opinion, so makes sense that people go for them. Just like how GTI Detroit rims are sought after by golf and jetta owners. Although those are made by BBS?

I meant if not going for the stock RS rims, $800 can only get replica aftermarket rims, as recommended by the guy I quoted.

when buying rims, look at max load bearing as well as rim weights. No point buying nice but heavy rims. End up with ruining the handling. Same goes for replica. May look nice, but may not go the distance.

actually I figure should just stick to the stock

increasing from 16 to 18 seem to be 2inch too much

my concern will be it will compromise performance of the car and brake

after all, 18inch is fitted to RS with 245hp whereas ambition is just 150hp

You think too much.

Other countries have so many options and I'm sure there are 18s stock wheel options for the non RS Octavia.

I can tell you there are owners of the ambition, who are on 19" rims, and still on stock brakes. It really boils down to how you want to look lah.

Yes, you can get 225/40/18. These were the stock tyre sizes that came with the gemini.

I am still on the 225/40/18 despite changing to errrrr stickier tyres.
