Here very quiet these days liao. Seldom see this thread popping up in the latest discussion. Skoda no longer VFM with the high COE? Even @AriesGoat also nvr come in liao.

3 issues here I am seeing.

1) High COE premium is making the price of Skoda closer to more premium model (percentage wise), and buyers with deeper pocket tends to sway toward the later.

2) Profit margin of Skoda is much higher than before. When SCS just started 4 years ago, profit margin is well within $20K but it is $30K upwards currently (with some hard bargain), probably SCS is pegging profit level by % of sales price.

3) This is the deal breaker for me: High servicing cost. I used to pay $400+ on avg for routine servicing (for 2nd gen Superb) and not once above $800 (for major servicing), but the price now is no longer reasonable, inching much closer to premium make such as Audi, BMW, Volvo, etc.

As posted by many owners here, the servicing cost for 60K - 90K km is a whopping ~$2.3K (total for 3 servicing), and that is after taking up the 'promo' package. In comparison, servicing cost of say Hyundai and Kia are in the region of $400+ to $600+ per servicing (total ~$1.5K for 3 servicing).

Many would be taken aback by the servicing cost, unless the onwer is just using his/her Skoda purely for marketing purpose, like this one below...

Yes, service at ext. workshop is so much cheaper! I recently did 165K Km servicing for my 2.0T Sharan and paid only $188 (at VAG specialist WS, and that is yet the cheapest).

Don't get me wrong, it is not about affordability but the value proposition. If I were to get a new Kodiaq L&K now (one of the car in my shortlist), I would have to service my car at SCS to enjoy the full 5 years / 150K Km warranty. I can service my car outside but will be more difficult with warranty claim (prove that no mod, use of 3rd party / recon parts, etc.)

Apple-to-Apple comparison, the servicing cost over at Australia is <AUS$400 each 15K Km for the very same model (non VRS), and it come with 7 years unlimited mileage warranty too!

Their 7 services / 105,000 Km package cost just AUS$2,700

https://www.skoda.com.au/own/service-packs

In UK, the servicing cost is £245 (~S$410) for every 10K miles (16K Km)

Only saving grace is that the Govt put in place the stability of the coe from falling. Else when I becomes too volatile, ad the car ends up in an accident, the total lost can place the owner in a tricky situation with the bank loan

Does using motul require u to change at 8000km instead of the usual 15000km due to the double esters

any one installed bike rack for Skoda Octavia over the boot? I only see roof racks for Octavia but that is not convenient.

Please share which product or how you manage to do it.
