Actually this is just a rebaged Geely. No technological inputs from Proton, except for minor exterior design. Nothing to be proud of for Proton.

Manufacturer Geely Also called Emgrand Boyue

Emgrand NL-3

Geely NL-3

Geely Atlas

have watched a few reviews of proton X70.

seem positive and could be better than korean or Jap of same category.

wondering if price well will buyer here accept this brand or still biase toward country of made like Korean as praised..

Will there be an AD to bring in Proton cars again?

May still have some buyers due to its pricing.

Then must see if the AD can price the car right?! You see perodua car, the AD seems dont really sell this car well?

Proton can learn from China Technology Geely. Now proton won't go wrong because China makes solid and powerful SUV.

Found a 2017 article so this is in line with Wearnes decision and it is happening now.

http://www.carbuyer.com.sg/volvo-made-in-china-singapore/

A spokesperson from Wearnes Automotive, the local distributor for Volvo cars, said that all Volvo S90s sold in Singapore are currently made in Sweden, and that China-built ones will be “made available at a later stage” here.

Another main advantage. cheaper servicong and parts easily available.

I wonder if they know how to repair or do they just rip out parts that failed and replace module by module?

Looks like the joint venture not that smooth

https://paultan.org/2019/01/18/proton-faces-rm523m-lawsuit-from-chinas-goldstar/

The parties entered the equity joint venture contract (EJVC) on April 17, 2015, which has since been terminated on January 22, 2018. The purpose of the joint venture was to establish a company to produce and sell Lotus cars, engines, parts, components and accessories.

As per the terms mentioned in the EJVC, GLAC was incorporated on September 25, 2015, with the current amount of issued and paid-up capital listed at RM180 million – the registered shareholders of GLAC are PHB (40%), LGIL (10%) and Goldstar (50%).

However, after failing to obtain the required manufacturing licence by the extended December 31, 2017 deadline, the contract was cancelled on January 22 last year, resulting in GLAC being unable to commence its business.

Will probably sell very well in Malaysia given what u get for 120+k ringgit.

And the build quality seems good.

The reviews all very positive.

Wonder if anyone will bring it in to SG. The kar cheng looks nice.

Very strange.....

When Perodua selling re-badged JAPAN Toyota/Dahatsu cars, everybody said they are not good.

But when Proton bring in re-badged CHINA Geely cars, everybody sound so interested.

[confused]  [confused]  [confused]

i won't buy it. But it seems like a genuinely competitive product this time.
