Maybe can go Malaysia and tune it up too?

Current gen vios was a good price when borneo lelong at 69k for base model, omv is reasonable too.

Anything above 70k for this base vios is a rip off, doesnt have knock down rear seats, need to pay for leather seats blahblah. The interior looks super old school too.

Better off spending 60k on the attrage if budget is a concern. Cheap and decent point A to B car, smack the accelerator and try hitting 100kmh, the car will give you a free feeling of how its like to ride a boat, vomit inducing ride with the super soft suspensions that makes you feel like the car is flying off (loud engine vroom vroom included!)

Forget the Vios...especially if you have Malaysian relatives.

Their vios is like packed with everything under the sun, from blindspot monitoring to auto aircon (E Spec ~ RM 82k)

If you buy the Vios, you will actually feel like a sucker...bacause their vios is so full with features (neglect j spec) while our E spec is even worse off than malaysian J spec (no auto aircon) in some instances.

Can the Avante/Accent do?

Anyone knows the current price structure ...are they selling at name your coe price style?

I wouldn't touch the Koreans with a 10 foot long pole.

Too many horror stories of "Ho Kua Bo Ho Jiak" amongst my friends who bought Koreans, especially Hyundais.

Everything starts going to shit in 2-3 years.

If hyundai cannot make it, maybe can consider the Kia?

Anyway, even the current hyundai also starts going to shit jn 2-3 years? Thought current hyundai should have improved quite a bit? Maybe 10-20 years ago hyundai really cannot make it?!

Shrug - Up to you to buy what you like =)

Not up to me to change your mind, only sharing what I know.

I will candidly admit I'm a Jap car fanboy and have never trusted the kimchis.

Like Toyota, Prefer Honda. Hate KAH for their money grubbing overpricing.

Current Mitsubishis are crap (though I just bought one). Nissans no clue.

Mazda FTW overall (Only since Skyactive).

I don't blindly follow Jap Cars, but they've always given me a better sense of mechanical reliability compared to the kimchis.

To each his own ba. Everyone has their own standards for reliability and what not.

Only Ikan Thomas talk sense here.

Everyone else is talking rubbish.

I have been to Korea many times and have many Korean frens.

Their roads are all empty cos all their cars broke down and in the repair shop.

I bought an Avante 2009 almost two years ago. Its COE expiring end of this month. Chalked up 100k km under me.

No problems from the engine and gearbox. The only things I replaced were:

-  head lamp bulbs H7 x 3

-  a signal light bulb

-  alternator

-  high tension cable x 1

-  shock absorbers and stabilising bar (of course wear and tear)

Like the old Sylphy I used to own, I think their electrical system is too strong for the electrical parts. The bulbs and high tension cables died easily. Otherwise, I must say it is a reliable car/model.

You mean Toyota inside all hard plastic and boring specs? I guess people buy Toyota is more for the reliability and overall drive experience?

I support Thai and Malaysian cars like Attrage and Bezza as best budget cars.

I also like Thai and Malaysian ladies.
