Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2018 C-Class saloon and estate car in the UK.

As one of the UK’s best-selling cars, the C-Class has become somewhat of an icon in the UK.

The German carmaker’s 2018 model has been revised ahead of it going on sale later this year.

Many of these changes are evolutionary including the design but it does get a range of upgraded technology and connectivity features.

Certain exterior design upgrades have also been made which included updated bumpers and new headlights and tail-lights.

At the front new LED daytime running lights have also been introduced.

Inside the car has also received a few updates, however, the car does not received the new MBUX interior cabin design.

Instead a floating touchscreen which can range in size from seven-inches to 10.25-inches.

Being the driver there are two options for the cockpit these are a more conventional instrument cluster with a 5.5-inch screen flanked by two dials or a 12.3-inch fully digital display.

A touch-sensitive pad on the steering wheel can be used to control certain functions of the infotainment screen.

Mercedes has introduced an Energising comfort control system which makes use of the climate control which includes the car conditioning and scents, seat heating, ventilation massage functions.

The system is supposed to improve the wellbeing of the driver and will also utilise the lighting and the music.

A number of driver assistance systems come with the car as standard and as options to improve the overall safety of the car.

The C-Class is able to drive semi-autonomously in certain situations, due to improvements in the camera and radar systems.

Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC as part of the Driving Assistance package is able to support the driver in numerous situations on the basis of map information and predictively adjust the speed e.g. when approaching bends, junctions or roundabouts.

Other new developments include Active Lane Change Assist and Active Emergency Stop Assist as new functions of Active Steering Assist.

The new C-Class also comes with extended Active Brake Assist as standard.

Powertrain options for the car have not yet been confirmed but accordion to Autocar, two hybrid variants will be added to the range.

UK pricing and specification will be revealed at the end of March, with first cars arriving from August 2018

A digital instrument cluster and enhanced driver assists are among the highlights.

The current-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class entered production for the 2015 model year. That’s not ancient by any means, but the platform is due for a mid-cycle refresh and that has officially arrived with the 2019 C-Class sedan. The car will make its first public appearance in a few weeks at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, but Mercedes-Benz has pulled the camouflage a bit early so we can get familiar with the changes.

On the outside, those changes are subtle but noticeable. The AMG-Line single-bar diamond grille up front is now standard, flanked with new LED headlights that are also standard equipment. The front fascia is slightly tweaked with horizontal fins in the side air intakes, and the rear fascia also gets a slight redesign with the addition of a diffuser element down low. As with the headlights, taillights also receive a minor design change and an LED upgrade. A fresh set of 17-inch twin five-spoke wheels are standard, and Mercedes will offer up a couple new paint options: Mojave Silver Metallic and Emerald Green Metallic.

Physical changes inside aren’t as noticeable, unless you opt for the new 12.3-inch digital instrument display over the standard cluster. A new steering wheel is offered with touch control buttons that respond to swiping motions, allowing drivers to control functions on both the instrument cluster and infotainment system without letting go of the wheel. Speaking of the infotainment screen, a new 10.25-inch screen is now available as an option over the standard 7-inch display. Smartphone integration is now standard, and a new interior color combination of Magma Gray with black is offered. On AMG-Line models you can also choose Saddle Brown and Silk Beige with black.

More Mercedes news:

The big story on the inside is actually what you can’t see. The new C-Class gets an upgrade in the tech department with Intelligent Drive assist features borrowed from the E-Class. Specifically, improved radar and camera systems let the C-Class see farther and wider, and it uses map and navigation data for driver assist functions as well. As such, the C-Class offers semi-autonomous driving in certain situations.

Power still comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, but in the new C-Class the engine is massaged to make a bit more power. 255 horsepower (190 kilowatts) is now on tap, shifted through the familiar 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan will officially debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show, though it won’t be on sale in the U.S. late 2018. Pricing will be announced at a later date.

This C class is just facelift lah, not new model. I thought they just facelift last year with the new 9spd auto.

Always felt that Merc estate car don't look nice.

Audi look better.

Next generation interior design must have this 'tablet on dashboard'?  Bmw has it, new K-car models from Hyundai and Kia have it. Any 2018/9 model J-car have this tablet?

How good are the deals and lobangs in terms of price now?

At motor show, "effective" price for c180 was $170 888 after the trade-ins and service vouchers

Current listed price $200 888   [shakehead]

Coe now $42k, when coe was $60-70k the launch price of the new model then was around 190k

When facelift model comes, would the price be   [dizzy]

Merc tends to allow the various lines to share parts, it lowers manufacturing costs.

So the lower end models benefit..

eg, the current steering wheel is shared by models going from the entry level MFA cars like the A class all the way to the E class. Likewise they all use the same mirrors.

The new C will probably have the same wing mirrors as the E Class.

Anyway, the new C180 facelift would still be stuck with the analogue gauges with 5.5 inch display, together with the 7 inch dash display.

The interior FL pics depict so many options lol.

This is disappointing. How can the lower class and cheaper A class have a complete interior redesign that’s more modern that it’s more expensive and atas C class model???

As a person who would never consider a class, this is major wtf? I pay more money for old tech?

The a class is a completely new model whereas the c class is just a facelift. Carmakers usually new tech into lower end cars to try out its reliability and also to attract younger customers into the brand. Edited by camrysfe

Well consider this

Most will buy the base version sans all the mod cons

And we have some who love these features and others who like it simple. See some bros in other threads who don't want folding mirrors, less electronics etc

So YMMV :)

Put S class in photocopier and press reduce button.

I think they copy Audi philosophy.

I love the S class design so love this smaller version too.

Not everyone will be keen on large LCD screens

There is still a need for regular dials.

It may be the car design and badge that draws the buyers.

We as customers, don’t give a rats arse about which production year daimler is in for each of its product lines. They should apply the same treatment to their higher quality products.

All new C43

Horsepower is up by 23 while torque stays the same at 384 pound-feet.

mercedes-al-salone-di-ginevra-2018.jpg

[uPDATE, March 7] Live images from the Geneva Motor Show have been added at the beginning of the gallery, below.

After giving the lesser C-Class models a mild refresh for the 2019 model year, Mercedes is now moving higher in the hierarchy by working on the hotter C43. Although at a first glance it may look virtually the same as the outgoing version, there are quite a few changes worth mentioning. For starters, the front grille now has the familiar AMG twin louver finished in matte iridium silver while the front bumper has a pair of flics for each air vent.

Moving to the back of the car, the first change you’ll probably notice is the shape of the quad exhaust tips, which are now round instead of angular. These come with a high-gloss black finish and flank a slightly more aggressive diffuser lending the C43 an enhanced sporty vibe. Go for the optional AMG Night Package and some of the bits and pieces on the outside will come painted in a similar shiny black for an extra visual impact.

Rounding off the changes on the outside are modified LED headlights and taillights together with the new wheel designs available for the U.S.-spec model in 18- or 19-inch sizes. Mercedes points out that aside from featuring a new look, these alloys have been developed in the wind tunnel to boost aerodynamic efficiency.

2019-mercedes-amg-c43-sedan.jpg

The good news continues once you open the hood to discover the upgraded biturbo 3.0-liter V6. Mercedes-AMG’s engineers have installed bigger turbochargers to increase output by 23 horsepower to 385 hp at 6,100 rpm, while torque has remained the same at 384 pound-feet (520 Newton-meters) available from 2,500 rpm.

The U.S. version of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG C43 Sedan will need an estimated 4.6 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) from a standstill and will top out at an electronically governed 130 mph (209 kph). Like before, the V6 engine works together with a nine-speed automatic transmission in charge of sending output to the rear-wheel-drive-biased 4Matic AWD system.

Stepping inside, the revised cabin greets you with its fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster offering selectable Classic, Sport or Supersport viewing modes. As standard, the C43 comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a new flat-bottomed AMG steering wheel clad in Nappa leather.

The 2019 Mercedes-AMG C43 will receive its public debut tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show and will arrive at U.S. dealers by late this year together with the C300 in both rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations and armed with an extra 14 hp compared to the 2018 model year.
