I think the HU at the showrooms are still displaying the analogue one. The clarion HU will come as a standard for the cars to be delivered. Price all included already. Any of the items in the package you dun wan cannot get money back. I wanted to do my own paint protection outside instead of using BM’s but no money back....

Last weekend’s price before the latest COE bidding, was $128,988 and was told it’s without the clarion HU. With clarion HU, it will be 131,988.

Just followed my friend to collect his RAV4 just. Must say the features in the new RAV4 is really good. Interior is spacious as well. What I like about the car is the driver display, it allows you to set to either digital or analog speedo meter. The display also looks cool, unfortunately his car has not been installed with the 8” touch screen head unit yet as the stock has not come in yet. He will only get it during his first servicing. My friend was kind enough to like me test drive his RAV4. The drive and changing of the gears is pretty smooth. According to the SA only 8 RAV4 will be registered this month saw at the collection point there were 7 units more. Attached is my friend’s brand new ride.

I think they didn't anticipate so many buyers were not happy with the stock head unit so BM probably didn't order enough of the head unit. Either that they just want to quickly get the car in and start selling first to recapture the market share.

I think the consensus when they announced the rav4 during the motorshow was they wanted to minimise the OMV, so they can keep the price low and competitive. At the time it was a pretty attractive price at $119k, with some nice safety features.

 

But I agree that it's likely they underestimated their buyers demands for a simple LCD. Still, $3k for an aftermarket LCD HU is crazy. I'm curious to find out what the exact HU model number is so we can find out the markup that BM is adding.

Your guess is as good as mine, I believe the 3k is inclusive of BM’s profit margin. I don’t believe the head unit is so expensive. It’s like the Alpine head unit for Harrier, bloody hell it cost 3k. Well anyway, will check with my Friend once he installed the touch screen head unit on his ride. Just now come home saw a black RAV4 at the carpark. Black seems to look smaller compared to the red.

So far saw before blue, white and the clay/grey colour in real life, and red and black from this thread. Think my favourite colours are the clay colour and the red.
