QQDreamer 4th Gear May 29, 2018 Share May 29, 2018 (edited) My 4 tyres are all same brands and using the exacts profile ok. have you inspected the rear tyres compared to the front? any difference? if no. unlikely is the tyre noise. it could be some other parts creating the noise? Spinelli_ck 6th Gear May 29, 2018 Share May 29, 2018 The mech said its useless to rotate so i didnt do it. But he confirm not bearing coz when he rotate the tyre using his hand, he said he can feel rotatting smoothly. If bearing problem, he said he could feel the tyre not rotating smoothly. He just asked me to change the rear tyres. He didnt sell tyres btw, just when i serviced my car he checked for me when i told him i heard sounds from hear tyres how did the mechanic verify that the sound issue is due to the rear tyres? what is the exact issue? it is much cheaper to rotate the tyres than to buy a pair of new tyres wor. Franwilliam 1st Gear May 29, 2018 Author Share May 29, 2018 At the ws whe i service my car the mech inspect after test drive. He said rear tyre problem n not bearing. Front tyres are fine he said. When i asked to rotate he said no use already. I forgot wht his explaination why is the rear tyre problem but i only remember he siad when he spin they tyre it still rotated smoothly so cannot be bearing problem and its not tyre noise too coz last time it didnt havr the noise. I just dont want later after change tyre then ask me change bearing. Anyone ever encounter similar like this?mine is honda civic fd4

Discoburg Supersonic July 9, 2018 Share July 9, 2018 Just curious, for a ride that travels around 20K a year, when will be a good time to change the brake pads? A mechanic took a look at mine and he said time to change liao. My ride is 2.5 years old, 50+ km traveled.

My ride is 2.5 years old, 50+ km traveled. imho... there is an "indicator" at e brake/wheel area to tell u how much brake pad u hav left....if not sure best get a trustworthy tech to advice u and also show u where e indicator is. n how to read it. Also, note that not all brake-pads are made equal....if u chg, make sure is a gd one. (at least car's manufacturer standard) How long (time) or distance traveled to chg really depends on ur driving style and e type of roads u travel (flat/uphill/downhill) daily...... My 2¢..

My ride is 2.5 years old, 50+ km traveled. actually very easy to see how much meat the brake pads still left . can see from the top part. need a torch light. this is how i monitor my brake pads usage. usually it depends on your driving style also. auto cars usually brake pads wear faster. average around 40K onwards. Just a rough guide. Some may need to change around 30K+ depends.

QQDreamer 4th Gear July 11, 2018 Share July 11, 2018 Yup. Only 'xiong' part is remove the rim. IMG_6051.jpg nice job bro. it would also be good to service your guide pins at the same time taking it out to clean them and apply silicone paste on it. sot that the caliper will not jam due to guide pins no lubrication. This is often not done by workshop sadly. also apply coat of copper anti seize onto the brake pad shim so that it will not cause sound when braking. All these steps is sadly not done by our sg workshops. If you happen to DIY change brake pads, it is good to do the above mentioned steps. Than your brakes performance will be optimal.
