Farewell, Volvo B9TL CDGE Buses.

A total of 200 buses were bought in 2006 by SBS Transit (SBST), making them the first wheelchair-accessible public buses in Singapore, having been fitted with manual wheelchair ramps.

The last of these buses would reach their statutory lifespan of 17 years on 27 September 2023. Thereafter, this public bus model and the bodywork would be fully retired.

Another bus model has reached their statutory lifespan of 17 years. Looks like SBS transit has many old bus. Next bus model reaching statutory lifespan of 17 years should be Scania K230UB.

Oh no!

What would be really cool?

Sink the body for diving and create a fish habitat.

A shell can be converted to shelter or food at the outlying islands.

Imagine a retired bus at Ubin?

Double decker can become single decker?! 😳 But thought that they would scrap all the buses than export to other countries?

Seems like LTA bought over  a few units of Scania buses from SBS and lease them to SMRT. This unit was spotted in woodlands with SMRT sticker

All buses belongs to LTA and given to respective operators.

These buses likely haven’t due for scrapping

Since public transport requires MoF subsidy, these buses cannot be replaced till time up.

Since LTA took over all buses, only scania buses they never given to respective operators and remain to operate by SBS transit only which was bought by them back then. Now all these scania buses are more than 10 years old, think should be fully scrapped by 2028. But funny that now they give some of these buses to SMRT to operate. Thought SMRT majority of their buses are newer bus model.

It is likely these routes belong to SBST previously.

When SMRT takes over, these buses go to SMRT

Heard bus uncle say the scania is the only model to be fully owned and operated by SBS Transit. LTA buys a few Scania buses from SBS Transit recently  and transfer them to SMRT. Don't know why LTA buy scania bus, the scania bus is due to be retired beginning next year.
