Hi, did you upgrade fw? Did it solve blank screen? I just got the first blank screen after using for 1 month. It came out when I was fiddling with songs and trying to make a call at the same time.

I did not actually get down to downloading the software though the thumb drive is already loaded and ready to go anytime.

Touch wood, since my last complaint, the screen did not go blank again.  But I am pretty sure it is a matter of time given this to be a software glitch.

There hasn't been any new firmware released since quite a while back.  Latest version is still 1.01.

I strongly believe if there's any sporadic anomaly it's very likely due to our phone, or the state it's in at the time when used with the HU.

We do know for a fact that our phones (by itself) needs reboot every once in a while.

Hi im a new to this.

But can i check what are the reasons for anyone to want to upgrade to z9150bt?

as compared to?

perhaps, some reasons why headunits are upgraded

- better sound quality

- need display and touchscreen

- require more features (support 2nd monitor, bluetooth, dvd/cd, carplay/android auto, etc)

etc..

In addition to what Giraffey said, 2 main reasons: sound quality and features.  For features, you can look it up yourself or read the manual (rtfm).

Main reasons why better sound quality:

  1. with better features, able to connect to HD digital source on high bandwidth connection and wirelessly
  2. Auto time alignment to create better sound stage and capability to preset listening position (driver, passenger...)
  3. 12-band (I think) EQ so can better tune sound to liking (look, it's pointless for people to argue what one hears against another.  Our ears have different frequency response.)
  4. Crossover adjustments (to get the best out of sub and speakers)
  5. From digital source at pre-amp level, digital throughout until DAC and amplification to speakers (as compared to stock HU and retrofitting with a DSP bolted on tapping from high-level (amplified) source resulting in fidelity loss).

It's manufacturers' KPI to release a new family series every year or so.

Without looking into the differences, I would confidently say I don't think there's much, other than the small digit difference to identify the models.  I don't waste time looking into it as much as you don't want to spend time on it too (by looking at the manuals.)

9150 is as good as it can get.  Price is what determines to get 9150 at a lower price (if stock still exists) or the latest model that most probably costs more.

Is it worthwhile to get the Z9250BT compared to Z9150BT?

I did compare the specs on the website. Looks similar. Hence, the question. Maybe, it is those little details that changed.

Fair enough.  You didn't mention earlier.

Hope my answer earlier helps.

All good.

All the above said points categorised by Reo are very valid and true.

I had my stock system changed out, the last being the HU and what a world of difference the upgrade with this Z9150BT made - at least to my simple ears.

The damage to my pocket is certainly not a small sum, but heck, I spend a fair amount of time travelling each day and figured good music to the ears will make my commute a lot more pleasant.  To each his own  :D

Hi everybody can I check if changing to this headunit can we retain the steering wheel control? Do we need to buy extra accessories to make it work?

Hi, there's no need to change. Just reconfigure the HU with steering control via bluetooth. It's in the HU setting. Can DIY or get the mech to configure if you replacing it at workshop.

It depends on the car model.  You'll need confirmation from the car installer.

If you post the information here perhaps you might get some assurance as well.

And also for Nissan x-trail 2018 facelifted version to be fitted with this Pioneer HU:

- Will I lose the dynamic lines (meaning lines will move together with the steering wheel) during reverse parking?

- Will I lose my 360 camera ?

- Will I lose any functionality on the steering wheel?

Thanks
