The new A-class sedan will be positioned slightly below the CLA, which will get another generation next year and whose swoopy styling means it’s classified by Mercedes as a four-door coupe. While the new CLA is likely to be closer dimensionally, for comparison’s sake the current version of that car is 3.2 inches longer than the 2019 A-class sedan, yet the latter offers greater interior room.

The US version's A220 sedan peaks at 188 horses and 221 lb-ft from its turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, versus 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft for today’s CLA250.

Mercedes has confirmed that the A-Class saloon will be offered with just two engines when it goes on sale, although further units are planned once production is ramped up.

The launch options are a turbocharged 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 161bhp and 184lb ft (badged A200) and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel with 114bhp and 192lb ft (badged A180d).

Don't you think it's quite chio... Although is a bit bland, but I think it's classy.

The interior is just super nice and techie. I'm quite excited for the A class Saloon.

is there any comparison between civic and merc A?

I think they are in different class between the 2 brand. Honda is positioning at b&b cat and merc is mid to upper cat, as such there is no comparison between the 2 brand.

both cars will have it own set of buyer depending on your budget.

Price wise I believe will be competitive.

But space wise, I don't think will be as roomy as the Civic.

Well. I have my arguments.

Some people regard a sedan as ... A sedan.

So price and face value come into the picture.

That's what I meant.

A civic ain't exactly a comfortable family car to begin with.

Went to see the new A-Class, an A200 at the PI the other day. Emperor Motors Pte Ltd.

Impressed by the level of kit. But disappointed coz manual driver seat adjustment, no memory seat, and manual front passenger seat adjustment. No sun/pano roof.

Nice pictures, but manual driver seat adjustment for a Mercedes Benz seems like taking away a bit too much.  [sweatdrop]

For me, I am least affected whether it comes with electric or manual seat bcos 90% of the time the car is driven by me. Of cos if there are more than 1 drivers sharing the same vehicle, then memory seat will be useful.

A class or even C class would never roomy lo. If want roomy then have to get the E class and above. So the new A class would be sedan? No more hatchback liao? The current A class hatchback design quite nice, and the new A class looks like the current CLA?

I thought the sedan is for all markets?

What is exclusive for China is LWB from what I read.

In other website said launch date is end of 2018. Wonder when will it launch in Sg. Even C&C haven't launch the new a-class hatchback yet while PI are already selling it.
