Chelsea reached the Carabao Cup Final by beating Spurs 2-1 (agg 2-2, Chelsea win 4-2 on pens). They will face Man City at the end of Feb at Wembley.

Good match n I feel sorry for Spurs cos their obviously weaker team (less Son, Kane, Alli) were a good match for a full strength Chelsea side. Pochettino showed why he is perhaps currently the most coveted coach in European Football by switching tactics when Spurs went 0-2 down at HT (Kante, Hazard)by going 3 at the back n they immediately pulled one back early in the 2nd half thru Llorente but alas that was not good enough.

Chelsea scored all their 4 pens whilst Spurs missed 2 (Dier, Moura).

Great to see strong teams like Spurs, City, Chelsea and even Arsenal (QFs) having a real go at winning this much derided competition, well done

chelsea deserve to win.

both team play their best players,

but spurs team alot of inj,

their back up not up to standard.

funny spurs didnt go through by away goals rules??

This yr no more away goals for League Cup n also no extra time.

Actually, even previous years, the away goals rule only apply after extra time ie there would be extra time if the match finished like last night n if still no score, Spurs would hv gone thru on away goals.

FA Cup also this yr no more replay from 5th Round onwards. All these are efforts to reduce fixture congestion and burn outs as EPL move towards Winter break next season.

Yes, over 2 legs Chelsea were the better team but its to Spurs credit that they matched Chelsea all the way n looks like the FA Cup is their only hope of breaking their trophy duck (last trophy won in 2008).

thierry henry suspend by monaco.

and what did we say about pundit being manager [;)]

They just bought Fabregas n looking into getting Bashauyi on loan. New Mgr (rumoured to be Jardim their former boss) may not want these players as he may have different ideology. That’s why sacking of Mgrs is a costly n disruptive affair but then again if he lost the dressing room n the terraces, he has to go.

Monchi to be new Arsenal DoF?

This guy is perhaps one of the best in the business n worked with Emery at Sevilla previously where they brought in many good players cheaply. They worked well as a team with Monchi now at Roma.

Monchi will transform Arsenal if he comes in

Man United continued their winning ways by beating Arsenal 3-1 at Emirates this morning in the FA Cup 4th Round. Good game n Arsenal had more possession n passes but United had the killer touch. What was worrying for the Gunners is they lost both CBs thru injury n Xhaka had to play there.

Maybe good for Gunners they exited so they can focus on getting top 4 n also winning UEL offers them a route to UCL next season as well.

I really fear for Chelsea this seaaon.

Another year without UCL is unthinkable

Chelsea are 3pts clear with a better goal difference from 5th place team. They also have a chance to qualify via UEL. They are thru to the League Cup Final and still in the FA Cup. I don’t see why the pessimism. Granted, last few games they have been caught out cos of their insistence to keep ball, the obsession of going thru the middle, the denying of Jorginho of the ball n the lack of a goal scorer.

With Higuain coming in, this shld somewhat solve the goalscoring issue n freeing Hazard to create havoc with a free role coming in from the wings. United has momentum but if they continue to progress in both FA Cup n UCL, they could be possibly be distracted but then again they have a large squad.

BTW, Spurs is not a sure bet for top 4 as well. Just my 2 cents......

Poochy Pooch can kiss good bye to his dream Man Utd job

:D

and be stuck at Spurs and win nothing for them.

I respect Spurs as a football club but

not Poochy Pooch as he tells his players to dive.

Ole is a genius.

Lukaku on the right and Alexis down the middle.

A different play from the speed of Rashford and Martial up front.

He is getting the best out of all his players.

:D

West Ham lost 2-4 to Wimbledon n Everton going down 1-2 to Millwall were the shocks of the FA Cup 4th round and Wolves needed an injury time equaliser to draw 2-2 at Shrewsbury.

FA Cup always in for shocks n for many EPL clubs including some of the big 6, this is about their only chance for silverware this season. Just don’t understand why some clubs including those in mid table, choose to field under strength sides. A few changes is acceptable as players need rest but changing half a team or even more is hard to swallow.

Man C is beginning to rack up the goals, after their mini-blip. This also coincides with the return to form of Jesus AND the return of full match fitness of their maestro KdB.

Bodes well for their quest for the League. Should be a shoo in  [;)] Still theirs to lose.

City do have the experience of winning EPL plus their overall squad is the strongest in my view but Pool is the leader n with them being k/o of both domestic Cup Competitions, they are the marginal favourites to be Champions so can’t really say it’s City’s title to lose I feel.

Tottenham was knocked out by C Palace in the FA Cup 4th round.  They were beaten  2 - 0 at Selhurst Park.

The FA Cup was seen as Spurs most realistic chance of winning a trophy as they failed to reach the final of EFL Cup.  In EPL they sit 9 points behind Liverpool and face an awkward last 16 UCL tie with Borussia Dortmund.   They are the 13th EPL club to go out of the FA Cup before the 5th round.

Spurs season has crumbled in a matter of 3 days by going out of both domestic Cups n just when Son is coming back from the Asian Cup to ease their stretched resources.

3rd of the big 6 to get k/o even before the round of 16. So looks likely the 2 Mancs n Chelsea will be the favourites n with only 4 other EPL sides left besides this big 3, there is a chance for one of the lower league teams to go all the way with the luck of the draw. Next round no more replays.
