Matrix0405 5th Gear August 25, 2018 Share August 25, 2018 In terms of exterior , interior (got floating tablet) and length of name, Kia Creato Forte K3 wins hands down. But because of VES, K3 plonked in an old engine + gearbox. God is fair.

Dafansu Turbocharged August 25, 2018 Share August 25, 2018 I'll go for cerato because of its interior and all-new design. If itend to sell few years later should be easier also.

fwm 1st Gear August 25, 2018 Share August 25, 2018 I was also deciding betwen Elantra S and Cerato months ago. Before the new Cerato feel Elantra exterior looks nicer compared to previous generation K3 but the interior of K3 look nice so unable to decide which one to get. But when the new Cerato launch, my heart goes to the new Cerato because I like the sporty exterior look and also the new interior design, look more continental the rear and boot space is really spacious. Went to the showroom 2nd day of the official launch, after looking and sitting inside the car, really wins my heart so decided to book the EX without even test drive it. Wanted the SX but due to my budget constrain I can only get EX.
Forte_Horizon_Blue 1st Gear August 25, 2018 Share August 25, 2018 Kia Cerato for me. Already booked. Why? 1) New model 2) Trust Kia's reliability as I have owned Forte for coming 10 years. 3) Good Authorised service centre. My Forte is maintained at Pandan. 1st class service (for me) 4) Good specs at good price for SX, other cars cost alot more. Do your check. 5) SX's interior very nice. 6) Good Marketing effort 7) Android/ Apple car play standard 8)Front / back factory fitted sensor. 9)New colour i like - Horizon blue 10)lovely tail light n X front light 11) .... 5
Heartbreakid 6th Gear August 25, 2018 Share August 25, 2018 Does the smartstream and ams make a difference? This AMS is the only smartstream tech added to the Elantra. I think Nissan Sylphy has this tech too whereby the alternator only operates when charges / loads are needed. The real package of smartstream is the new 1.6 engine with dual injection coupled with cvt transmission available for Korea Cerato. Whether or not this new engine will be fitted to the facelifted Elantra (when it comes to SG) is unknown.
Camrysfa Turbocharged August 25, 2018 Share August 25, 2018 Just curious.. why strictly no turbo? oh, perhaps I am a slow tech adopter. I think turbo will be expensive in upkeep in later years. so i try to keep to the coventional. Impreza? With trade in and discount it can be below 90k. Its 2.0 though, with some nice safety features. I may be all wrong ... think this car sucks petrol and insurance will be higher. anyway no 2L cars for me ... road tax is more and when it goes to workshop they charge you more. i drove a 2L for 10 years.... enough. Haha, driving my Altis, my road speed has decreased .... seldom 100, mostly 80 / 90 lane 2.
Volvobrick Supersonic August 25, 2018 Share August 25, 2018 oh, perhaps I am a slow tech adopter. I think turbo will be expensive in upkeep in later years. so i try to keep to the coventional. I have been through many turbo'ed cars (chipped up for more power too) . Never once have to replace it. Modern turbos will last as long as the engine. And once you have one, you would not like to go back to a NA car again.

Joelwong 2nd Gear August 25, 2018 Author Share August 25, 2018 Went to try the cerato again at Waterway Point roadshow again. Car felt abit sluggish to me, don’t remember having this feeling when I tried the Elantra. Will take my friend’s Elantra for a spin and decide.

fungyee77 5th Gear August 25, 2018 Share August 25, 2018 (edited) oops , the price of a turbo is something like 20K more Know it doesn't tick a couple of your boxes, but Skoda Octavia 1.0 is pretty impressive. Good space, solid build and Skoda has excellent reputation for reliability. If I were in your exact situation, think the K3 SX, Octavia and Forester NA would probably be my 3 main options within the proposed price range, with VFM/reliability/practicality being the primary drivers. I was a huge Toyota fan, with my first 2 cars being Camrys, so with your nick, I imagine our considerations aren't worlds apart.
