The factory head unit is removed when imported, so as to reduce the OMV, otherwise if it exceeds 20k, it will fall into Cat B, making it out of reach for more buyers, not to mention the higher Coe price. It is the same reason as to why Borneo doesn't bring in the 1.8l or even 2l version which is a better engine. The OMV for the Corolla Atis 2020 elegance is already close to $23k. So max loan is 60% if I am not mistaken. Cat B COE only applies if the engine capacity is above 1600cc or 130bhp. The HU, while ugly, is the exact same HU as what Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand are getting. Only some of the top spec variants in ASEAN get the nice floating screen type of HU. For other make like korean cars, since they are not selling by their badge, thats why they need to improved on their design, features, safety and reliability.
