Go FB and google for ST Auto.. They are selling the Corolla hybrid hatch since early last year. Specs quite low though.

The JDM Corolla sedan is really smaller than what we have. Its really Axio size only...Axio finally dies with the arrival of this G12 generation

What a beauty. $99k for a corolla 1.8 hybrid.

844501_6b.jpg

A true floating screen HU in the PI corolla.

If only BM can bring in corollas with HU like what was originally designed rather than the weird 2DIN rubbish like below.

ST Auto stocks are from Aussie land. Hence u see the factory fitted HU as shown. BM ones came from the factory with a large 2DIN hole and the spare parts bin HU is installed locally to keep the OMV low.

Well as low spec as this Corolla hatch it might be, it still have full LED headlights/tailights, and full Toyota Safety Sense suite.

BM Altis base still comes with Halogen headlights...

Straits Times 12 Gen Corolla Altis Review by Christopher Tan

"Equipped wih paddle shifters, the car takes a leisurely 12.9 seconds to hit 100kmh, or one whole second behind its predecessor. Ride is on a par with most sedans in its class, while handling is better than most.

Fuel efficiency is not exceptional, though. At a tested 9.5 litres/100km, it is 19 per cent thirstier than its predecessor."

Told u guys liao lor... U cannot expect a great car when you've got such wheezy and backward engine choice in this part of the world.

Rem, even the 1.8L Altis as sold everywhere in this part of the world is considered weak by today's standards... our 1.6L will be a total goner, and it sure is...

Also not helping is the OMFG CVT.... CVT does nothing except zapping away power from your engine.

The competition has certainly catch up and completely overtaken Toyota. Don't kid anyone here into believing that SMLJ TNGA is a game changer. The new chassis made the G12 smaller than G11... and it is never a good thing to downsize in today's world where every model change gets u a bigger and wider car.

Having a full rear IRS doesn't mean anything if u have barely enough power to to turn the wheels over.

In today's automotive climate where people go for large SUVs, the least Toyota can do is to offer highly desirable sedans to try to steer buyers back to sedans. As it stands now seriously, who would choose the Corolla over well established and much better designed/engineered brands for the same or just abit more money?

Hello sir, your mind set has just sat in Singapore little tiny market.

Toyota Corolla has sold more than 330,000 units in China for the year of 2019.

If I not wrong, the latest 1.8L Corolla was launched in China in late September 2019. And it has sold 33,000 units per month.

Do not forget. Toyota has 2 most successful SUV. The Highlander and RAV4.

Most importantly, there is another world most successful model Camry. Very successful in China and America. More than 600,000 Camry has been sold in America in 2019.

Do not forget the luxury division of Toyota Lexus.

Lexus sales in China has increased by nearly 18%.

Singapore will not get the latest car model compare with other major car market.

Yes my opinion is refers the local or at least SE Asia market, where Toyota purposely used the old dual VVTi 1.6/1.8L instead of their new 2L Dynamic Force engine as found in the Rav4.

That 2L engine would be a much preferred choice.

Toyota is successful in the western markets becos they were forced to use the best drivetrain and designs they have to keep up with the competition.

In this part of the world, Toyota sells the badge will do. This is why POS models eg Avanza, Innova etc can still sell even though these models are not available in SG

Don’t need to respond to him lah. No words can get thru his skull cos he’s just so adamant that Toyotas are pieces of shit while his Korean cars are the best.

look at his posts here, he has no credibility at all lah. Most of the time just spewing disdain or putting imaginary engines inside other cars.

he’s like a local small town school janitor who tHinks he’s the discipline master of the whole country’s schools.

just skip his posts can liao

Let us focus on the facts :

Mazda 3 Sedan 1.5 Elegance (A)

PRICE $100,888

Engine capacity : 1,496 cc

Power 88kW (118 bhp)

Kerb weight : 1,385 kg

Acceleration : 11.9 s (0-100 km/h)

Fuel consumption 18.2 km/L (Combined)

Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 Elegance (A)

PRICE  $102,888

Engine capacity : 1,598 cc

Power 96kW (129 bhp)

Kerb weight 1,315 kg

Acceleration : 12.9 s (0-100 km/h) - from ST article

Fuel consumption 15.6 km/L (Combined)

So we can conclude that the Corolla Altis is lighter and has a larger capacity, more powerful, engine than the Mazda 3.
However, for some reason, the Corolla Altis has worse Fuel Consumption and slower acceleration (0 to 100 km/h) as compared to the Mazda 3.

And the Altis is $2k more expensive!

To a certain extent, Corolla is a product of bygone similar to JDM Axio.

It is still selling well to dwindling customer base who don't care about technology.

I don’t understand how come altis is lighter and has more powerful engine and yet the acceleration is slower than mazda 3? Lol.

Yes, the 12th gen 1.6L Corolla Altis acceleration of 12.9 seconds for 0-100 km/h is slow.

For context, the 1.2L Attrage has an acceleration of 13.3 seconds (0-100 km/h).
