The best of both worlds will be the wagon version. The Corolla Sports Tourer. Has the sporty looks of the hatch, the space of a Sedan and better yet a bigger boot than both. And given it's a wagon bodystyle, the handling balance will be much better than both too due to the weight behind the rear section. But too bad, the market here has no love for wagon BUT the interest seems to be rising though.

Europe's G12 Corolla wagon. It looks really good actually. Great looking and Corolla are usually mutual exclusive de haha

JDM Corolla wagon. It's alot shorter hence it looks abit weird. It replaces the old Axio Fielder, so the actual dimension gotta be the same as Fielder.

Would personally love the Euro Corolla wagon. Look more balance in appearance than the JDM version. JDM one has the rear that looks short, with abit of hint of earlier version of Audi A3, which is a hatch.

Seems like Borneo will indeed be bringing in the Altis Hybrid. 2 trims, Standard with what seems to be carryover 1.6L engine and Elegance with 1.8L Hybrid system. Interesting to note see that the 1.6L Standard is under VES C2 band, although given Borneo’s past record (current Altis, Vios, Sienta and Prius), it will most likely be tuned to neutral B band in due course I guess. 🙂

That antique Prius wagon needs to go liao la.

PHV just use the Corolla hybrid will do. Thats Prius sedan drivetrain so no need to import that OMG looking Prius sedan anymore

Standard 1.6L and elegance 1.8L by BM? Seems interesting, wonder what will be the pricing like?

For the base taxi grade 1.6L, you have to pay $20k to PAP for using such lousy engine. So how cheap can the new G12 Corolla be? That $20k penalty cannot be neg away. Unless BM strip out everything again and give sinkies a very expensive empty shell like they always do since Corolla was sold in SG.

That 1.8L hybrid powertrain is the Prius powertrain. All of u shd be familar with that engine by now

I only know that the Altis is overpriced  at $97K for the base standard model - https://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_overview.php?CarCode=11448

Price comparison with competitors (lowest grade, base model)

Honda Civic 1.6 - $95K
Subaru Impreza 2.0 - $90K
Nissan Sylphy 1.6 - $86K
Kia Cerato 1.6 - $78K
Hyundai Avante 1.6 - $75K

Sgcarmart prices are not accurate.

In other news, new Yaris launched in Japan. Images here

TLDR:
The Yaris debuts a new 1.5 3 cylinder, a TNGA Dynamic Force engine like the new Camry 2.5 and Corolla 2.0. It also debuts the TNGA GA-B compact platform (50kg lighter, 15mm lower, 30% more rigid) and new compact class hybrid system of 1.5 3cyl and li-ion battery, with 15% more power and 20% more fuel economy than the Prius C 1.5 4cyl nimh hybrid system. A 6-speed rev-matching manual or Direct Shift CVT with physical first gear is offered for the 1.5 nonhybrid, while a improved 1.0 3cyl + standard CVT will be offered in some markets. The 4WD and Efour get wishbone rear suspension, the rest get a torsion beam. The US likely continues with a rebadged Mazda 2.

Some features for Japan's variant, unconfirmed for EU/Asia etc:

1500w accessory power outlet for hybrids

The EU press release is more concise, global press release has more details. Japan's showroom units will arrive end October, deliveries from February 2020. Lazy to start a new thread 😂

Other than shape, size, engine, etc... Are they going to bring in improved feature to this new model? Or still using old parts or technology?

Other than using Prius 1.8L hybrid system, the base 1.6 and default 1.8L are carried over from the G11. Can't expect Toyota to offer 2L Dynamic Force engine in this part of the world. Most Corolla buyers wouldn't know nor appreciate what it is. Same CVT also. 6MT? U need to import one in from Thailand yourself.

Toyota parts and technology would usually hang on at least 2 complete model change before they would intro something new... and that something new is usually existing tech that are already been widely deployed by other manufacturers for many years prior.

not bad for toyota already la

I saw it on their roads also. It is smaller and shorter than the G11 esp in the rear legroom.

The hatch and the wagon is best looking among the bodystyle. I just find the sedan bodystyle is a last min addition rushed job.

It is uglier than G11 le

Esp the rear yes. The tapered end made the car looked narrow which is at odds with today's general design directions where wider is better.

The asian market front end also made the G12 looked like a early 2000s Black n Deck Car Vac from the front :D
