The entry level variant - special edition with 1.6L NA engine most likely we will get here may not be of rear multi-link suspension.

Ya. The Altis is a bread and butter car.

People who buy bread and butter cars just want it as point A to point B transport, sip fuel, be reliable, comfortable and cheap to maintain.

This segment of buyers will not care if it's a multi-link suspension or torsion beam.

Safety features may appeal to them though. The current Altis already has 7 airbags, so the new gen is likely to have the same or more.

Wait.. is that considered underspecced?

Singapore will not import, as it's all more than 130bhp, fall into CAT B

Should be tuned down to stay in Cat A like current mid life facelift Altis engine.

So consider going backward?

I can't remember where I read, so I'm waiting for official news release. Supposedly the Mz3 torsion beam will have some tweaks Mazda made so the gap is not so big vs current IRS.

Even 1.2L Auris is using the same suspension.

Unlikely, there will be 2 suspension variant which will increase production cost.

Unless all Thai factory models roll out with torsion beam standard  [:(]

yes. only this brand new corolla sedan will be the first one to have multi-link.

Hence it's good to see the corolla improving it's game against the elantra/cerato/civic/mz3

My first car which is a Corolla G6 with carburettor engine is also having multi-link set-up for the rear.

I have switched over YR2014 Altis to the latest Kia SX Cerato.

Woo... Totally different feeling. I really enjoying my new car.

One thing for sure. Thailand made Altis workmanship is not as good as Korea.

I know. Every week, I will personally, hand wash my car. Especially, the interior and body work.

3 things about the new Kia Cerato that are inferior to your Altis -

1) Sluggish pick up

2) Very thin paintwork which chips off very easily

3) Very high fuel consumption.

Are you really sure...

I was and am the owner these 2 models.

And every week, I will wash my car SX Cerato.

How about you? Your 3 points should be the other way round.

My children are enjoying the comfortable ride.

When I switch over to Kia SX Cerato, I totally realise the firm holding of a Korean car.

One more thing, very good body work.

You want firm holding. Forget about this car.

Some interesting thing.

The left side of my old Altis wheels were wearing faster than the right side.

But, I did not discover on my SX Cerato.

Firm holding during corning. This is the main factor.

put aside the price. if got contest to win free car ( Assume can choose one japan car or one korean car with same/equivalent spec and features), i guess most ppl may choose japan car.

Maybe I will choose cerato.

Because the car :

-suits man(good road holding, good for cornering)

-suits childrens(because they loves to sit inside)

Maybe only wife don't like it because Mr T never mention?lol....
