Turbocharged

I think the critics review are a whole lot of bull, that's why I hate site like Rotten Tomatoes as I suspect they have some agenda of their own. Their average score is 40% but viewer score is a high 85%. Not to mention all the skewing of reviews from haters like what happened to Captain Marvel.

I trust older and tested sites like IMDB which give a fairer approach to ratings where outsider influence is minimal, one which I mostly will agree with.

Anyway back to Godzilla. I thought it was not too bad. I felt compared to the previous movie, the pacing for this is better, the battle scenes are alot more and more intense, though I still think not enough (some argued it's too much fighting) The destruction or the monsters and the appearance of Godzilla are of Epic proportions. Some fights are dark but viewable, Some battles are cut off too adruptly but still a big improvement out the previous movie. Final battle abit messy with distractions from the humans but ended beautifully..

Nevermind the motivations of the villains, no matter how weak it seems, nevermind the comic relief which stop shop of cheese and nevermind the interlude where the story develop at the comfort of the character's war rooms and throw logic out of the window. This is not about plot twist, drama an such, it's about monster mayhem mash. Monsters dammit, don't expect realism. The story and plot isn't special but good enough to move the show and the fights.

And if you are a casual Godzilla fan or a maniac fan like me, it's a whole session of fan service organism....

From the music remixing the original theme song. occasional original monster sounds to the plot devices like the "oxygen destroyer", "monster zero", Ghidora being alien, Rodan emerged from volcano, Godzilla meltdown, Mothra flying glow and death, to the story about the twin....It's a 2 hour orgasm for G fans!

Put it bluntly, of all the 30+ Godzilla movies, most are B grade straight-to-video quality made to compete with Ultraman. This is the Hollywood take of what a B grade monster movie with A grade budget can do. It's a wish come true for fans.

Entertainment value compare to it's peer movies:

- Pacific Rim is slightly better IMHO

- This is much more better than the bulls**t of Pacific Rim 2

- This is much more better than the bulls**t of Transformers: Last Knight

- Much better than the 2014 Godzilla movie

- On Par with Kong: Skull Island

- Much better than Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

- More serious than 1st Pacific Rim Movie

- IMHO more entertaining than Pikachu Detective

- On Par with Bumblebee

- Felt better than Alita: Battle Angel

Being a Legendary production, it's surprisingly not much Chinese endorsement BS but do have chinese characters in minimal roles.

For casual viewers lts a 7.5 to 8/10

For Godzilla/Monster fan, easily a 9-10/10, the geek satisfaction is immense.

Going to watch it again!

Exactly. I think you are abt the same age group as me. We grew up in the toho era.

The 2019 Godzilla is screen worthy for its monsters and destruction but I would dare to say that I find Aladdin is actually nicer - for its eye candy Princess Jasmine (thought I find her shoulders rather chubby), break dancing Aladdin and funny Genie

sometimes some folks need to manage their expectations. you bought tickets for a monster movie yet you expect character development and deep story line like Yanxi palace kind....

it is like you prepare to watch porn and expect a love story to happen with  shakespeare quotes

watched ANNA two days ago, another story about Russian girl recruited as spy the usual KGB/CIA movie.

Quite similar to Red Sparrow but this one slightly relax and not so action packed, more humanity toward the secret agents.

Also kena dragged along to Toy story 4 today, no regret. A good movie even for adult, a lot funnier than the previous ones.

Why no highway to the danger zone ? [laugh] [laugh]

Too bad they weren't able to get approval to film F-35, but then if F-35B, the vertical take offs wouldn't be as exciting as F-18 runway takeoff. Last time F-14 was also already a very old plane, but still beautiful.

be amazing if they get kenny loggins and berlin back to do the songs.

Just came back from a special screening of Fast and Furious presents: Hobbs and Shaw. My god, it's a complete farce, even making allowances for the ridiculous nature of the franchise. At one point (you'll know if you watch the movie), my brain was saying "now that's a *literal* suspension of disbelief

also watched this last night, surprise that the movie got poor rating maybe a bit slow and 无厘头. But i quite like it, Leonardo DiCaprio acting is still good, Brad Pitt become a 花瓶  and Quentin Tarantino's style of violence is hilarious, only came out at the last 30min of the movie  [laugh]  [laugh]
