A budget vacation for the family

These rooms in the Theme Park Hotel suits most family very well.

Especially those productive parents with 3-4 kids[laugh]

Classic high tea and walkabout on the first day of arrival.

You need to walk a lot after numbing your butt in the long bus trip.

This "mountain" vacation seriously is for children , despite the infamous gambling casino lurking very nearby.

I had not been able to explore the rest of the location due to partial renovation work still on-going.

As of writing, the indoors should probably be fully up and operational though.

Not so much to say about the outdoor ..hmm.

The last evening ended very well with a juicy BBQ spread.

For those hip and high, I suggest you waste your night away at HIGHLIFE.. it's full of young energy !

About 6-10 years back I kept bring family to Genting

Reason: cheap

Theme park hotel: One family room per night is $30, sleeps 4 and free breakfast for 2

The brekasfast guys see my kids so small say: kids free!

The annual pass for outdoor theme park I think same price as our zoo day pass haha

Becuase I go Low season, the theme park guys allow my kid to keep sitting the rides, no need to come out and queue again

Last I was there were 20 years ago. Damn.

That time I keep going

I think twice a year

Minimum once a year

Until the restaurant people in theme park hotel knows us :XD:

I think they are called happy valley

I like the old wing of theme park hotel

Very scenic, very retro feel, very very quiet

My kids loved the trips there

Of course for me and Wife sianz lah

Go and go until kids bored already

Then I brought them to HK Disneyland

They are very family friendly

One room can sleep four

I go only in March becuase Super off peak and cool weather

I also bought annual pass

One year go once

Now kids grow up, Only like ipad ps4

True used to be annual affair but stop since the outdoor theme park under renovation (still waiting for the new one!).

When the kids are young they enjoyed every trip but now everywhere need wi-fi.

Theme park hotel is indeed worth it for family.

Miss the cool weather and the drive up the mountain.

Pretty much the same though it's been revamped. In fact less likelihood of getting lost inside compared to last time. New layout gives better direction bearing.

Only issue is finding back my favourite zhi char store. Dunno where's hiding now. Walk for 3 days 2 nights there, still can't find.

Surprised that traffic going up at the mountain top is very bad. Think it would be worse when the outdoor theme park is ready.

Those driving dual clutch cars need to be mindful of potential failure. The crawl is like at both sides of SG and MY Customs, but much worse on an incline.

anyone who has not been there for the last 2 years, confirm will get lost inside.

Me and family used to go up at least once a quarter. On occasion even twice a month. Never spend a single cent on room booking. All given free through sms/email; Birhtdays/cny/school holidays surely there will be text msg and sms. We will arrange our trip to conincide with the concert months. One year warch at least 4 to 6 concerts.

Which zhi cha? The one at the bottom of Hill or the one at taxI coffee tiam?

What concerts? I thought its like for my parents generation.

I want to watch the dora show. But u can't pre book before that.

The zhi char stall @ First World Shopping areas. Think was at level 2. It was affordable food at Genting yet delicious.

Now the Malaysia Food Street is at 4th level.

Hahaha not really your parent era.

1st) star arena mostly HK/TAIWAN singers/talk show. Yes zheng di, Adam cheng, joey, sammmi etc. Sometimes they have Cantonese wayang which my mum loved.

2) a smaller scale stage inside which feature mostly magic show/play cater to english speaking audience reckon. Probably your Dora performed there as well.

You can book the tickets through 1) & 2) through their website.

If all else fails through Internet than there is a local representaive office here in Singapore. Can try calling them during office hours see whether they can assist in the booking of room/concerts. My wife (she overall incharge) merely provide our car number and verification to access the phone in conceriage service on many occasions.

3) FOC performance inside the casino itself. Mainly local and Philippine live band.

Are you referring to the zhi cha on the fourth floor inside the food court? The first stall near entrance selling roast chicken/duck rice?

The chi cha has been on the fourth floor for many years if I can recalled. The second floor only consist of a steam pot buffer and some other restaurants style like eateries. Not chi cha.

Another chi cha is at the taxi booth coffee tiam opposite theme park hotel. Cheap and average taste but good enough to fill up tummy.

Food generally not nice at Genting Highlands. But now in the new mall got new Malaysian Food Street food court and got many popular chain restaurants so I supposed choices have increased compared with previous.

There are couple of restaurants inside the casino standard quite acceptable. The western and chinese restaurants inside the casino. Beside the international room entrance. Not Ex and food quite ok IMO. Edited by Kopites
