Yup.. that’s why not very smart to sit in the bath tub with a hair dryer. Unless u trying to die.. else you die trying to dry .

actually it is way healthier, BBQ in water than over fire (carcinogen)

Owner would have fire insurance.

180 people evacuated after Hougang condo e-bike fire on second day of Chinese New Year holiday

SINGAPORE - A fire broke out in a Hougang condominium unit in the early hours on the second day of the Chinese New Year celebrations on Sunday (Jan 26).

The fire, which is linked to an electric bicycle, set ablaze a unit at 5 Buangkok Green and about 180 residents self-evacuated before Singapore Civil Defence Force officers arrived, SCDF said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

SCDF added that two people were assessed by a paramedic for superficial burns and difficulty in breathing but both of them refused to be taken to the hospital.

SCDF said that it responded to the fire at 5.50am and preliminary investigations found that the fire started in a bedroom where an e-bicycle battery was being charged. SCDF officers put out the fire using a water jet.

SCDF also reminded the public on how to prevent fires due to  personal mobility devices or power-assisted bicycles, with an infographic on fire safety tips on their Facebook page.

I said that before, and I am going to repeat again:

  • UL2272 is not the solution to battery fire, it can only reduce, NOT eliminate the risk
  • E-bike is still using Li-ion batteries thus not any safer than PMD (especially those modified one)
  • Wear and tear, as well as use of improper charging devices / replacement batteries will increase fire risk
  • Routine maintenance and inspection shall be made mandatory to protect the public from undue fire risk

Bro u say 100 times oso no use. The LTA scholars are too busy patting themselves on the back for using $7M of our taxpayer $$ to solve their earlier mistakes....

30 people evacuated after PMD-related fire breaks out at Eunos block

yq-c3-14062020.jpg?itok=CL3rJa0g&timesta

About 30 residents were evacuated from a block in Eunos after a fire broke out on Sunday (June 14) afternoon.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a personal mobility device (PMD) that was charging shortly before the fire broke out, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook update on Sunday.

The SCDF were alerted to the fire at Block 1 Eunos Crescent at about 3.05pm and no injuries were reported.

"Upon SCDF's arrival, part of a corridor on the seventh floor of the block was engulfed in flames. SCDF extinguished the fire using a fire extinguisher and one water jet," it said.

The force recommended tips to prevent PMD-related fires at the website.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) encourages all PMD owners to use UL2272-certified devices and look out for the UL2272 certification marks when buying a PMD.

More information on UL2272 certification and a list of certified devices in Singapore are available at LTA's website.

All owners of non-UL2272-certified PMDs are also strongly encouraged to dispose of their devices at designated disposal points as soon as possible. More information on PMD disposal is available at the website.
