Brass 6th Gear February 27, 2019 Share February 27, 2019 (edited) Hmm...not quite the case here. Resale value is non existent anywhere, including Singapore. If you sell your car, be it a car that is used for a few years or one that is due for expiry, you are certain to get only paper value +few hundreds to thousands depending on its age. Hence, if you buy the car with high margin, you would pretty lose tons of money. Other than that, some dealers seem to sell their cars at high margin, but when you reach the showroom, that does not seem to be the case. Maybe one example would be Hyundai, in which the Avante is priced more expensively than the Kia Cerato, but because of their $8888 rebate for CNY, it ends up being cheaper (for higher spec) Otherwise, Opel might be an example. Others would be able to fill in for this void.(I never considered an Opel before... maybe other than the insignia...but I might need a sugar mommy for that Edited February 27, 2019 by Brass

Lotr 6th Gear February 27, 2019 Share February 27, 2019 Higher margin for ADs means higher depreciation for buyers. If depreciation is high, means resale is low.

Cheefarn 5th Gear February 28, 2019 Share February 28, 2019 Resale Value? Does it really mean resale Value higher? Some AD make 70% while most make 20%-30% premium. No way dude. Higher profit margins from AD means you end up a bigger carrot for them to chop when u do put down your hard earned money with them And pls hor, no such things as high resale value these days. Pls snap out of this myth and ask ard used car dealers It is scrap plus a few K at most. If you drive a so called 'unpopular' car, its surely at scrap value only. And after the used car dealers got your car, they will sell it at their own insane profit, market it as if its a highly sought after model etc, At a dep rate equal or higher than new cars LOL

The used car dealer took your car in at 40k to 50k.. After that they resell at 60k..which is what you saw on their ad lor. They are hoping for a 10 to 20k profit from your old car. So.. Are u willing to let them do that?

No_worries 6th Gear March 20, 2019 Share March 20, 2019 Yes. That's how they make money. You see those big bosses living in landed properties n driving posh cars? For better value, it is better to buy a new car and drive it for least 7 to 8 years and change. Changing every 2 to 3 years is definitely a waste of money.

Watwheels Supersonic March 21, 2019 Share March 21, 2019 Talk is cheap. Why dont the guys who talk so much open their own shop and sell new/used cars at 1K-2K profit? Let's see how well you do against other dealers.

Let's see how well you do against other dealers. so very true. Typical example is PI vs AD. AD seems to have better specs but many would prefer the hassle free option of going with AD and risk hearing fairy tales about govt fault on VES , homogation and not getting COE. And even with better specs its 20K cheaper than AD. Unless you did your sums, and is risk averse, many would still proceed with a well establish PI who gives you a full refund on Guarantee COE if they dont manage to get the car for u on first try. ↡ Advertisement
