If the numbness and pins and needles usually comes around in the morning, analyze your sleep posture and get an appropriate pillow. Might not work but worth trying.

If your cervical spine is unstable, please don't listen to some stupid chiro and sleep on a folded towel. I did that and regreted big time.

Funny thing is when I go to any hotel the pillows are usually not sleepable for me.

So I fold a towel that I take with me and get a good nights sleep.

Works for me.

I wouldn't try chiros though

My guess is you are a back sleeper. I am a side sleeper.

I thought you are seeing a chiropractor? They like to recommend sleeping on a towel, which is supposed to be good for your spine but if you always roll to you side midway, coupled with an unstable cervical spine, you can be screwed big time. It happened to me.

Again, this is from my own experience, hence please don't blindly follow any advice given here.

I'm a side sleeper first and sometimes a backsleeper.

Asked many doctors about chiros and they always say don't try them so I haven't.

A person can ease the symptoms of cervical spondylosis with a few simple neck exercises.

Neck stretch

Keep your body straight.

Push your chin forward in a way that stretches the throat.

Softly tense the neck muscles.

Hold this for 5 seconds.

Return your head to its center position.

Push your head back with the chin held high, and hold for 5 seconds.

Carry out 5 repetitions.

Neck tilt

Tilt your head forward so that the chin touches the chest.

Softly tense the neck muscles.

Hold this for 5 seconds.

Return the head to a neutral position.

Carry out 5 repetitions.

Neck tilt (side-to-side)

Lean your head down towards either shoulder, leading with the ear.

Softly tense the neck muscles.

Hold this for 5 seconds.

Return your head to the center and repeat on the other shoulder.

Carry out 5 repetitions.

Neck turn

Turn your head to one side as far as it remains comfortable, being sure to keep your chin at a level height.

Tense your neck muscles for 5 seconds.

Return the head to a central position.

Repeat on the opposite side.

Repeat this exercise 5 times on each side.

These exercises can help to moderate the impact of the condition and alleviate pain or feelings of stiffness. However, they will not cure cervical spondylosis.

The pain relief balm I am using is effective. The heat can be felf deep in the muscle tissues and coupled with bro @Kklee neck stretching exercise the pain and stiffness in my neck/shoulders is almost gone. Feeling less discomfort today.

anyhow guess that got one bone in your neck (C4/5) is out of place, pinching the nerve connected to your left hand, causing (symptoms) stiffness in neck shoulder, weak left arm. Deep heat balm cannot help much because its bone not muscle issue. Below is a list from cheapest to most expensive solution, which hopefully can help.

1. neck stretching exercise (KKLee). (FOC)

2. use a towel ($5) over the right side of neck, gently pull to re-position the C4 or 5.

3. Neck hanger/hammock ($20) Jman and buadong2, stretch neck, relieve pinched nerve, space for bone to self correct.

4. Bone setter $55 - 70. He can feel if it is indeed neck bone and which one and target adjust it back, if he is good.

5. Chiro means take x-ray, sign package first ($4K) then talk.
