Ms Noor Azlin Abdul Rahman, who won her fight against Changi General Hospital (CGH) for not detecting her cancer early, lost her battle with the disease on Monday morning (April 1).

She was 39 years old and suffering from fourth stage lung cancer.

In February, the Court of Appeal found the hospital negligent in its care and directed CGH "to consider the possibility of settlement in the interests of expediency and resolution

The hearing was scheduled for April 1, but Ms Noor Azlin died before it could commence.

Her cousin, who wanted to be known only as Ms Norushikin, said Ms Noor Azlin had been feeling very sick for the past two days and became breathless on Sunday afternoon.

Her funeral was held early on Monday.

The Court of Appeal ruled that CGH had been negligent in not putting in place a system that ensures proper follow-up of radiological results and managing of patients.

This caused a delay in the diagnosis of Ms Noor Azlin's lung cancer.

It was revealed that radiologists had twice recommended follow-up appointments after X-rays of her chest were done. But both these recommendations were dismissed by the doctors involved.

The names of the doctors who made those decisions were not on record, nor were their reasons for doing so.

The court was scathing in its comments about the hospital's "serious inadequacies" in ensuring proper follow-up procedures for patients.

As a result of her case, CGH changed some of its operations.

Why can't the name of the doctors be reveal ?

Did they receive any disciplinary action ?

Most doc just doing a salary job... just follow books , procedure , sop ....

i would agree, but i also believe many doctors are really passionate about the well-being of their patient.

RIP lady and sincere condolences to the bereaved family.

She made her death count. Because of her case, "CGH changed some of its operations". And i pray none of the changes is a new and airtight disclaimer form to make late discovery of such cancer cells "an act of god" per se.

And i hope CGH will make the payment to her estate to be paid out according to her will, if any. I mean, no cheque to be made payable to Bank of Departed.

Young. 39 years old. A fighter.

Safe ride and take good care of health ya, ears included.

Cheers

30-40 years ago is wild wild west. The doctor can cure you or have some less ethical or shoddy practice habits.

Now every small thing also got best practice or guidelines. Now moh even going to issue legally binding guidelines on consent taking. So after this round, u don't follow, means good luck to you. Now this has nothing to do even with clinical work. It's just administrative cover your ass. And under a previous ruling, we are obliged to tell you all treatment options even if they are not suitable for you.

So partly behaving like a lawyer is also going to be the norm.

Measuring kpi and outcomes modify behaviour. That's a fact. U give an exam, we will pass the exam lor.
