I am more interested to know hiw much money incurred in paying this committee to come up with such a out of the world brilliant idea!

Hearsay it’s proposed by a vendor who hopes the project takes off so that they can do it on many buses. It’s all about the $$!

instead of on a moving vehicle roof they should propose to do it on all hdb roof top. not only it add green on the roof it also reduce the heat generated By the building.

I applause the mscp carpark roof garden but why half f**k job..some do some don't.

Thought on all newly build bto, the MSCP rooftop default is a garden?

Not to mention the nitrates forming nitric acid eating away at the roof...corrosion?

Ya lor, they thought it is as simple as put plant = cool down temperature and no other side effects. Putting plants on top of thin aluminium sheet vs concrete are both totally different thing. Plus I believe that multi story carpark where the top is rooftop gardards, they would have installed waterproof membrane to prevent water leaking too. Can they do it on rofftop bus? More likely is that the bus roof frame will have higher chance of getting corrosion and may cause water leakage. Plus the extra weight expecially during raining season will add stress to the bus roof. All these are no good.

So later see only maybe cabin temperature dropped by 1 degrees but then create many new sets of problem like water leaking, roof show sigs on corrosion. Then it will be problems more then benefits.

As usual they always think and implement ideas without thinking of the consequences de.

It is a good initiative BUT

1. doesnt it add weight to the bus and thus consumes more fuel

2. priorities - better bus bay, better and cheap bus seats

3. more connectivity to remote areas

4. etc

it seems like new KPIs are created to earn bonuses, too much money (but spend where there is public visibility to earn brownie points - KPIs or election coming)

should have voted you for minister of transport

His (@kopites ) HDB don't have and he missed the view of Ah Tiong sunbathing there ....

:XD:

One thought, doesn't HDB have to pay for maintenance of the garden on rooftops. So the cost pass to the residents meaning the monthly fee will be increase to cover the maintenance cost on the roof ...

Weight cost more fuel to be used.

Should just charge passengers by weight.

Put a weighing machine at the door entrance.

They would tell you they have already improved the frequency and bought many buses liao. And you people still not happy ah?  -_-   [laugh]

Have they ever though of the various insects on the roof ?    :slow:

Definitely needs maintenance on those plants planted on the roof of the buses de. So now when the bus drive back to depot at the end of the day, other than washing the bus, they still need to maintain the plants? Which it will increase maintenance cost? Just to decrease temperature inside the bus?

Yeap, need to employ a specialized high-rise gardener.

There are insects, pests, spiders, snakes, etc. who'll make the garden it's home.

Unless they use fake plants.
