you meant the Stock size is 205/55/17 (what made you said that and From ?)

technically both size is suitable/ exchangeable (205/60/16 and 205/55/17) .

tires optional size in easily check from your Car Owners manual or Tire label with Pressure shown.

if you can find any details , you can always look for other option like Tire manufacturers conversion chart, or your own calculation or any one sharing here with their own experiences.

just make sure you know what you are doing and choice.

just MHO

Thanks bro... cause the sticker at the door shows 205/55R17... that's why when I wanna go pump air... i was like errr..... call the SE ask him give me back my 205/55R17...kekeke Edited by Nlatio

The thing is I do not want to.

But my Dad's Hyundai Accent is a bread and butter car and he does not want to spend so much.

Because 175/70/r14 is a very rare size, the difference in price between this and 175/65/14 is about 30% different.

For 4 wheels, the amount is quite substantial.

By changing from 70 to 65 would reduce the overall diameter of the wheel, resulting in incorrect speedo meter reading. The car is travelling at lower than its intended speed. And you need to press the accelerator more to achieve the same speed, resulting in higher consumption.

Recommend you to change to different tyre size incl rim change if necessary. You could save money in the long run. If you are likely to change car soon (<3 years), please ignore my post. Just sharing what I went through.

205/50/17 was my stock tyre size. Stock rim size was 6.5. So I cannot fit 225/45/17 which is a golden size for good tyres at cheap prices.

Back in 2015, there were not many good tyres at this size. I was quoted $300 per piece of PS3. So i went to change rims to wider 7.5 which can accomodate tyre size 225/45/17. I had since had PS4, 2x f1a3. All of which cost around $150-$170 per piece at size 225/45/17. These tyres are not available in 205/50/17 anyway.

Quick maths.

If I stick to 205/50/17. 1 set PS3 cost around $1200. I usually change tyres every 2 years.

Good tyres at size 225/45/17 cost around $600-$700 per set.

1 round (1 set of tyre in 2 years) save me around $550.

4 rounds (8 years, assuming quite new car, drive till COE) save $$2000.

Can buy decent rims 17-7.5jj with the projected savings.

And really, not many tyres to choose from 205/50/17. Pay premium for good tyre, not rare size.

thanks for your Great sharing

but due to some reasons ,some Driver may not wish to do that like Car under warranty 205/50/17 is the orignal size and changing to new set of wheels to wider width to take 225/45/17 is correct but some are also worry about the Warranty and Quality and Look .

Can check that some car models can come with both 205/50/17 with 17-6.5 rims or 225/45/17 with 17-7.5 rims as stock. Or approved sizes by car manufacturer. My car nissan sylphy b17 is an example.

after some reseached  most tire company recommend 225/45/17 on 7 inch width minimum.

if your wheel width is 6.5 inch please stick to 205/50/17 best and i dont find it difficult to order from any shop (just give them time to order) everything will be FINE.

Thanks for the sharing!  Car still under warranty.  Hence, probably "safer" to change back to the original tyre size.

Actually, wonder is there a guide as to when to change tyres...  My mileage less than 35,000km.

Hi all, I’m currently driving a 2018 Honda city (Profile 185/55/R16). Choice for tyres of these rim size rather limited, looking for rims that can fit Michelin PS4 or Bridgestone turanza t005a. Would like to seek advice on the possible rims profiles that can be fitted for my car. So far see got 205/50/r16 and 205/55/R16. Looking to retain 16inch for rim size. Thanks in advance.

I wont recommend if your are running stock Original Honda wheel (to narrow for 205/50/16 /205/55/16)

for 205/50/16 and 205/55/16 recommended Minmum rim wheel width 6.5 inch ,best  7 inch
