SING BURI (Thailand) — Sixteen Singaporeans were injured in an accident in Thailand’s Sing Buri province on Friday (Dec 20) night after their tour bus skidded off the road, Thai media reported.

All injured passengers were taken to a provincial hospital by rescue workers, local broadcaster Thai PBS reported.

Local police were quoted saying that the tourists had been on a tour visiting a local church and a market in the Bang Rachan district of central Thailand prior to the accident.

While on their way back to their hotel, the bus driver attempted to avoid a collision with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, the police added.

However, the bus driver lost control of the bus, which tipped over onto its side after ploughing into bushes on the roadside.

When contacted, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said it was aware of accident and the Singapore embassy in Bangkok has been in touch with members of the group as well as the local hospital to render assistance.

It is understood that the injured Singaporeans have all since been discharged. MFA's spokesperson said the embassy has maintained contact with the Singaporeans and will provide the necessary assistance to facilitate their return to Singapore.

My daughter classmate was in the bus.

Phu Thap Boek is a 1,768 m high mountain in Phetchabun Province, Thailand near the border with Loei Province.

Driving up is a great challenge, tons of turns and at mid hill, there was a recent landslide damaging most of the roads..

Air is thin and seriously, not for the weak heart..

Nothing much, most Thais enjoy coming here to enjoy the cooling temperature of 21d and camping/BBQ at night.

As we head back to khao kho, chanced upon this nice mookata restaurant.

Food and people are great, cost only SGD 20+ for 2.

Had another fright as we travel a shorter route back to khao kho. Pitch dark and alone on the road.. imagine driving for an hour with no sight of light...

We decide to return earlier for day 4..

oh dear. I hope her classmate was not one of the casualties? I saw on another news that all the casualties have since been discharged fm the local hospital. I guess some of the more serious cases will need follow up medical either in BKK or SGP.

Lots of Thai drivers like to cut to opposite lanes on the road, even on blind corners in hilly areas. I had a few close shaves in Mae Hong Son area [furious]    Same in Msia too, actually.

nice comforting food for cooling weather.

scary to drive rental car at night on those unlit mountain roads. The cars are often low spec (no fog lamps?) and the main beams aren't aimed properly to give better throw without blinding oncoming vehicles.

Yeah, the food are great and people are very helpful and friendly..

The vios don't have fog light and had to high beam to see the road..  mobile reception were also cut off..Most of the routes are upslope.. and pinpoint turn..

Day 4.

Activities getting lesser and lesser as most of the POI had been covered..

Tanruk talaymok cafe for some photos taking.

Head the war memorial and weapon museum, nothing much, not worth going.

Went back to wind turbine farm for some purchase, do note that they close even earlier on weekdays.. and the wind turbines are not even moving..

Kanchanapisek pagoda and their local post office..IMG_20191224_120544.thumb.jpg.623545bae57ab05b224e78868a7742e2.jpg

Don't believe too much from those reviews and pictures..

It's more like fog clouds.. yes, it's chilling especially at night while hot in the day.

Some areas are a total darkness.. you can try the mookata buffet if you want. The lowest temperature we encounter was around 19..
