Sending soon, within Xi Da Da reign.....

Definitely within our lifetime

When US-China relations sour, Taiwan's value as "chess piece" to U.S will only increase as tensions escalate.

Just hope Xi will keep his promise buying more from US, which help silent US a bit and awhile.

Why kmt can cross to taiwan easily without chopping passport?

KNN, when KMT main force pulled back until taiwan, taiwan was already occupied by KMT soldiers stationed there lah, chop simi passport?  Had the CCP push hard behind them and gave chase, CCP also will cross into taiwan without chopping passport what... [laugh]  [laugh]  [laugh]

The whole damn area, including taiwan island, in term of land belong to CHINA, but take note I say China and not CCP.  CCP rule china, but technically they dont own china.

The current complication is all because CCP didnt push on and chase KMT out of taiwan. If they had done that, today taiwan will just be part of Fujian.

This China, taiwan, CCP and KMT issue is like the relationship between Buddha and sun wukong. TW is  part of china ( sun wukong is a drop of Buddha blood), but CCP allowed KMT to take TW and break it away ( Buddha allow SWK to learn skills and magic and became strong), now CCP kpkb ( SWK kajiao the world until buddha cannot tahan want to catch him) but KMT is diu lei lo mo to CCP ( and the monkey king simply show middle finger)... Good time to go hold their neck for a lelong bargain.... [:p]

The PLA is primarily land forces. No strong navy to begin with. Actually KMT also didn't have a strong navy, so the US navy's role was most significant.

Only in the past 20 years or so that PLA has advanced in naval capabilities. In 1998, the PLA sent a buyer pretending to be casino tycoon to buy a retired carrier from Ukraine. The end of cold war helped CCP develop their naval and air power through buying technology from former Soviet states, then having to develop theit own economy.

Not only Taiwan, but also Quemoy was still ruled effectively by KMT which was strategic in naval defenses. Quemoy is still under Fujian administration of the ROC.

It's sometimes compared with end-Ming / early Qing -era when Koxinga occupied Taiwan in support of Ming. He was a pirate and master of naval warfare. The Manchus did not have a strong navy as they were mistly land-locked tribes, they depended on former Ming naval officers. But because Ming had mostly banned sea trade their navy was half f*cked.

Eventually it was Koxinga's son who surrendered to Qing in exchange of a Duke title. If you read 鹿鼎記, he was labeled a traitor 漢奸 in the novel.

The only thing i know of 鹿鼎记 is 韦小宝 and his wives, the rest I only know 3 words, jump, skip and pass... [:p]  [laugh]  [laugh]

Anyway, whatever reason it was, the fact is CCP did allowed KMT to take TW and develop it.

Mayb at that time that was the best choice, tho it now looks like a bad one, but still if that was the best choice they had, thats all they could do.

The whole China-TW issue, in the end will still come back to a decision by the CCP, just like when KMT was given the chance to take, keep and develop TW.

The action will come from CCP ruled china, TW can only react to it, doesnt matter who is in charge.  [laugh]
