Turbocharged

I knew it. China government is always blaming her problems on the West, to deflect criticism. I support the protesters in their fight for human rights and autonomy.

For the first time perhaps i agree with you my fren...like what Vision said: im on the side of life lol

Part of the root of the anger of the Hong Kong people is the very high rising housing cost. The younger generation finds it impossible to own a decent house, which comes as small as a parking lot and over a million dollars. The bulk of the wealth is being owned by a few tycoons while the large majority struggle to meet the down payment of a house. This is where the Singapore government succeeded , by controlling the property price and keeping public housing affordable.

If the housing cost is really 1 of the root cause, isn't it better for CCP to take full control of HK so that the land, housing and wealth can be control and distribute back to the general public?

Rather than protesting, the more they should support the extradition bill so that the CCP can act on that.

Dun think it is even remotely possible for the CCP to take full control of HK by acquiring back the land from the HK tycoons. The tycoons are going to sell the lands back to CCP at astronomical prices. Then how are they going to build houses and sell back the land to the general public. HK is but a small part of China, there is no reason to burn the state's coffer coz of this.

They also can't force the tycoons to sell back the lands coz they are acquired thru legitimate means. Doing so would undermine the trust of doing bizness in HK.

This problem has existed way back before the handing over of HK in 1997. It is just that the CCP are unlucky enough to take over HK in such a manner.  They basically have their hands tie now. If not for the fact that the average HK people are living in such tiny houses with pent up anger escalating to an ANGER eruption. Dun think this riot would even exists.

Currently, housing price in China tier 1 cities is getting "unaffordable".

When i was Beijing, i stayed in 1 bedroom apartment east of Tiananmen (fringe of 2nd ring road).  My monthly rental is close to RMB12k.

Nowadays, CCP no longer talks about wealth redistribution.

On the other hand, a lot of ppl misunderstand Extradition Bill into Extradition agreement.

Should read up more about it.

The screwup started from 1st CE, Unker Tung who comes from a rich family.

In addition, legco is controlled by pro-biz/beijing.

We can also blamed Chris Patten for starting the screwup ball.

Anyway, HK govt going to launch land reclamation project in Lantau Island to built more houses.  But HKer thinks that it is waste of public fund.

That's because no one in HK government dare to comment that " you don't need big space to make babies ".

Affordable is very subjective, but i hope our next generation can still afford to buy their HDB and pay off the loan within 20 years, so that they have time to accumulate money for their retirement.

Now their pay higher, in air-con office, do planning and nitizen works .... :slow:

In the early 50's, used to see ministers (especially LKY, GKS, S Raja, HSS) walking the ground in kampongs   [nod]

Nowadays, you only knows of a visit (don't know how many years passed already) when suddenly bangala washes the void decks, corridors, sweep the car parks, banners & leaflets put up of the intended date of visit and also on the proposed date of visit, no show ... [:(]

1 of the thing that Brit failed to do is land reform.

A lot of countries went through it including China, Taiwan & Singapore.

The resistance for land reform from landowner in Yuen Long.

That's why there is 丁權 now.

Would CCP/CE has the willingness to do land reform?
