I fully agree HK is smaller than peanut to china. Even if it is totally removed also no effect.  However,  if this leads to others, story will be very different and of course it will affect asia badly.

this statement is not “accepted” by many in hk because hk is SAR for china

china need hk SAR because

1. many funds invest in hk

2. many funds get into china thru hk

3. prc also invest in hk that make money with the rest

4. without hk SAR status ... i read there is some issue with “trade status” with usa and the rest of the world

hkee pro democracy proclaim hk is NOT a peanut to prc although prc always proclaim SZ can takeover hk

obviously, the pro democracy know that hk has it's strategic position, value and "benefit" which prc cannot "ignore"

Please stop referring back to June. Now is October already.

I also empathise them during back then. But now situation had changed.

Now they don't recognise the 1 country anymore.

Those rioters are just rioters ruining their own city and potentially bringing destruction to themselves and dragging others along with them.

Think deeply, who push this ppl to that direction?

Read the article i posted this morning.

It is written by a PRC Prof.

There is no silent majority

why cannot be silent majority against the rioters? everyday only few thousand people come out burn the hell out of the city, but majority dare not voice out.

You can say majority not happy with CL but you cannot say majority support the rioters.

The silent crowd can be:

1. Supporter of CL

2. Supporter of rioter

3. Neither supporter but condemn rioter

Nobody knows which way it tilts.

We will see if these are true. So, without HK China close shop?

if some idiot car cut in dangerously in front of you, does that make you have the right to ramp into him or stopped him and give him a punch in the face?

Maybe official figures don't tell the real story....

But it is quite sobering if you compare  1997 vs 2017.

Perfectly sound analysis of how I feel but in a succinct and coherent manner

Its exactly what these westernised youths are not thinking...

Taking a page from the Vietnam Yuppies of yore reflects what these protesters will feel when they look back years later

But other than youthful idealism, I doubt they have much to contribute to the political future of Hong Kong.

Joshua is not that important in the eyes of the rioters, ask him to try blocking the mob by the rioters see if they will whack him as well.

But he's so full of himself even to the point of warning current govt not to block his bid for nomination.

Haiz.

Full of air and emptiness. Every time i see his picture, i got a mental image of an empty coke bottle.😅

Alot of noise.

Safe ride

Cheers

I was in a Uber ride while on a short trip in HK recently. The driver sadly sum up the situation succinctly "估唔到香港最后係俾班死靓仔玩死嘅" - "I would never imagine that HK's eventual downfall is caused by a bunch of young punks"

Can really feel the resignation in his voice.
