All the SGN's still colonial mentality - AM confront then never get splashed with petrol and burnt, own HKers confront them got burnt, sprayed paint, kicked, smashed with bricks even if they were pregnant women.

The SGNs can look forward to going to US/UK to be second class residents.

Like it or not...Sg still needs US.

Fully agree with Tharman. Managing US-China rivalry key to tackling next financial downturn

https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/managing-us-china-rivalry-key-to-tackling-next-financial-downturn-tharman

Which part of the article has quoted the minister in saying "Sg  still needs US" ?

All I see is in that speech was in Beijing with Tharman pointing out the danger of decoupling China-US industrial relation.

He made that statement in the  same week when Huawei setup its 1st 5G-enabled  AI lab in SG - a stake contrast against US gov self-defeating behavior.

Common sense tell....😁

"common sense"  ? Based on who's interpretation ? Yours ?

you see - I am okay if pple wanna quote from a public statement, but to miss lead others by putting words in the good Minister's mouth is irresponsible, to say the least.

In fact, the only "sense" Tharman made reference to is the "sense of entitlement" - Remember Ramesh ?

Looks good and peaceful in general over this weekend, so far...

SCMP finally has no photo of Molotov--throwing rioters or tear-gas firing HKPF since last Friday...

Good for HKie and everyone!

Haha.😆....When meet Tharman next time, will ask him if he disagree Sg needs US....

https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/government-economy/singapore-still-the-top-choice-for-us-investments-in-asia

https://sbr.com.sg/economy/exclusive/foreign-direct-investments-us-singapore-hit-over-244b  Foreign direct investments from the US to Singapore hit over $244b. Singapore don't need this $244b investment?  Especially sg manufacturing sector, and the jobs.... Hope he knows this too 😂🤣

No US, so there will be no Apple, no Microsoft, Facebook, YouTube and etc... You know any country doesn't use Microsoft OS at all?

LOL! US businesses, like other countries, love SG as their primary hub for Asia Pac operation - that is nothing new.

So why you would assume SG has to "depend on US" based on FDI figure alone when the fact our top 3 largest trade partners are from this region ?

Took you over an hour to comeback  with those  links without any Tharman reference after posting that 1st line ? Try harder the next time.

Singapore’s Top Trading Partners

  1. China: US$50.4 billion (12.2% of total Singaporean exports)
  2. Hong Kong: $48.6 billion (11.8%)
  3. Malaysia: $44.9 billion (10.9%)
  4. Indonesia: $33 billion (8%)
  5. United States: $31.9 billion (7.7%)
