Wonder how are they going to implement for those driving taxis and private hire. They pickup and drop off pax could be anywhere. So how to calculate erp on the go? They are not driving from one end point to another end and then stop or park in building and etc. That one easy as end point is the amount of erp deducted. However for taxi pickup.. Imagine drive halfway in erp zone.. Pickup pax drive till say still in erp zone, drop off pax. Pickup another pax in the same erp zone drove till exit erp zone and then before reaching pax destination enter erp zone again. Like that the system able to separate calculate how much erp pax to pay meh?

Heard is that the moment you entre the entrance of an Expressway or Exit an Expressway, an amount will be deducted.

Same for CBD areas and whatever areas LTA deem fit to install one reader ..

The system should be base on gps system

Same like your phone gps, the new iu is the gps tracker

The moment your car moves, you pay

Supercharged
(edited)

How many kilometres you travel you just pays

If got different rates, then everyone will go take phv licenses and drive

Currently, does taxi have a special erp rate

Turbocharged

Lol.. looks like taxi meter...

jokes aside.

Anybody think distance based charging will reduce the number of vehicles on the road?

Twincharged

Consolidation of prototype unit being shared online. device likely to be the same size.

This is what I mean, as you could see on the picture it says charging per KM.

So let's say taxi driver is picking up pax from River valley to battery road during morning peak hours. On current ERP is very easy as pass by the ERP gentry = add in amount based on how much the ERP is pass by at the point of time. After that pickup next pax in CBD area and then go to other places no problem with ERP calculation at all as taxi driver already in ERP zone and had already paid for the ERP.

However with new satellite erp, it has a big problem. Lets say same pickup and drop off at same timing. Taxi driver pass by the ERP satellite zone and drove till pax drop off location at battery road. The ERP will be based on PER KM travelled. So that one can know how much based on the system prompt. However taxi driver will be still driving in the Satellite erp zone and then on the way pickup pax in the satellite erp zone. Then how the system going to capture and calculate separately as taxi driver is still driving and not stopping anywhere based on the satellite ERP. The satellite ERP do not care whether there is pax drop off and or pax pickup in that zone right? So how?
