Actually, this type of situation is same as the Leicester-winning season, or the season when BR got close - a few of the traditional powerhouses were in transition, and were effectively out of the race before it got far. So it's the perfect opportunity to try to win it.

Chelsea got off to the worst possible start this season, tio whacked by Utd. A bunch of kids stepped in cos can't sign new players - and Hazard left... And they could only attract Lampard instead of some more established name. They have really surprised me by getting to where they are now. They were the first team to beat City last season. Hope they can again take points off City in the next round after international break.

Actually many teams played well against/after Pool... Spurs did well mid-week also, but somehow didn't play well during the weekend.

And yes, all these teams pls peg City back when they meet.

as of Match day 12, Pool has played all the traditional top 6 clubs + Leicester.   Pool beat all these clubs except for the bus-parking United.

On the other hand. City has only played Spurs and Pool so far,  without winning.  There is still Chelsea, United, Arsenal and Leicester still to come before the 2nd half of the season commences.

This is the type of advantage Pool has chalked up and must continue to increase / maintain the lead while these opportunities present themselves.

That sounds great!

I didn't know City hasn't played Utd, Arsenal and Leicester. Let's hope they really take some points off City, and creates a big enough gap that City knows it's better to give it up - and maybe focus on UCL instead 😆

We are in a good position now - especially given that for a few games the team did not play well but still won.

Must try to be on form and play well - and importantly win - all the other matches coming up. Don't let slip such a good and rare advantage.

Having navigated the early tough stretches so excellently, the next major headache must be the packed fixture list after the international break, till the new year period.

Now that it's decided to send 2 teams to play in Carabo vs World Club Cup, the next thing is to plan carefully, and not to overtax the players' body, esp. since many will be on international duties too.

Stay fit and healthy, and maintain the form, improve on and stamp out the obvious weakness - and we can hope that this might just be the year!

watched the game last night and was euphoric the whole day,

and on TAA penalty claim, no way.

Its a ball to hand. Period.

if it was given as atkinson would love to, most players i believe would just aim at the hands instead of making crossed in the penalty box.

Man City lost the match even before a ball was kicked.

Pep cannot stop talking about Liverpool and he transmit his anxiety to his players.

Sergio Aguero had 3 good chances in front of goal and missed them all.

Aguero is a fantastic striker and if he was playing say Southampton he would have scored all 3 chances.

Aguero has never scored at Anfield and that played on his mind. Pep keep showing how worried his is about Pool really doesn't help his players.

Sterling not being able to put the game behind him is a reflection of his manager's anxiety.

Pep sarcastically shaking the hands of the ref and linesman and saying Thank you very much isn't helping his players.

I hope Pep don't change and keeps talking about Liverpool so it keeps playing on the minds of his players and they keep cracking up.

Hahahaha

Klopp just like Shankly are masters of psychology.

Klopp said he promised not to talk about Man City's tactical fouls.

Saying he promised not to talk about it is exactly talking about it without needing to talk about it.

Then after the match he apologised saying he shouldn't have mentioned the tactical fouls as it was not necessary.

Not only did he mention tactical fouls again he also played the bigger men and coming out to apologise and saying these kind of statements are really not necessary.

That man is the master of mind games just like Bill Shankly.

Even Jose doing his best cannot get under Klopp's nerves just like how he can so easily with Arsene Wenger.

Good breakdown of tactics in the match. A bit selective horse behind the canon.

Pep rarely gives too much respect to the opposition.  But he was probably too respectful with Klopp and started with both Rodri and Gundogan, both playing the DM role.

Tactically, the team could have over defended by pulling too many players deep into its own half.  The 1st goal was cos Pool was the on the counter and a poor cross put into the box by Mane. Gundogan, normally a calm passer of the ball, opted not to pass but to clear the ball out of the box in the first instance.  With the DMs so deep, Fabino was able to picked up the ball and had the luxury to set himself up for a full and clear strike on the ball.

We seldom see Pep so winded up during a game. Usually even if they concede the 1st goal or get a decision against them, he wont be so animated. But at Anfield, he was actually irritated with everything thrown at the team.
