At 2-1 the team should have sit back, organised defensively and play on the counter.  And then just play out the time  There is no need to rush to score another goal even though that would kill off  the game. Haste makes waste. 

 No idea why Adrian rush out the ball and sent it wrongly.  Other goalies would have wasted time on it.

Everything crumbles from that moment.

The funny thing is, AM did absolutely nothing to win the match........Pool was all over them for most part of the game and they hardly had more than 50% possession.

They won simply because of their defensive tactics and right substitutions but also due to Pool's naivety when in-front with a goal lead.

the game was easily summed up as the tale of 2 GKs. Oblak played like a man possessed and Pool would have walked away from the game in 90 min with an easy win if not for him.   Adrian made a few careless mistakes and were nervy throughout.  His mistake led to the 1st goal and the 2nd was goal conceded were equally poor and most pple would have expected him to save it.  He is clearly not in the same class as Oblak and Alisson.  If Alission was fit, I dare say that it is more likely we would be celebrating another great anfield nite.  

All in all, this will somewhat lead to a muted end of season procession. However, let's not forget the league was the main target at the start of the season.. it is still mission accomplished. Klopp will certainly has to beef up his options at the GK and possible at the forward lines for the next season.. in order to compete for the EPL, UCL and perhaps more of the domestic cups..

While there is no doubt that Adrian's mistake is a big factor to the loss, I feel that his error is just a symptom of the team rushing for the 3rd goal when the 3rd goal is absolutely not necessary to win the match.

Leading 2-0 at 95 minutes, someone need to remind the team that it is more important not to concede than to score another goal. The game management then should be to play defensively (or negative football, whatever) ,  and let AM has a taste of their own medicine by drawing them out of their shell.. That would have naturally dismantle AM and probably could even batter them as they leave holes behind while chasing for a goal with tired legs.

Instead, Pool end up dismantling themselves all in 15 minutes because of wrong priorities at the wrong time. A wrong priority lead to a crucial mistake in extra time  and the rest is just history

the 1st goal conceded was a mere 176 seconds after Bobby scored his goal of the season at Anfield.  I think it may not be a fair statement that Klopp didn't amend the tactical setup after our 2nd goal. It may be too fast to make a full defensive switch especially in a game whereby A. Madrid did basically next to nothing on the attacking perspectives.  the manager and the players are human after all..  abit of reaction time should be accorded.  I think in all reality, Klopp will try to monitor the game play after the 2nd goal before making the defensive adjustments. However, the goal conceded happened too fast.

Quite sure that if we held on until the "half time" of extra time, Klopp will alter the shape probably to 4-2-3-1 and also sub in players to preserve the lead. While we lament the mistake of our 2nd choice goalie, Klopp has to think where to get another 2nd choice goalie. Adrian is going back to Spain end of season iirc.

no doubt Adrian has served us well in the early part of the season while Alisson was out. those were mainly games in the EPL which Pool tends to dominate. 

In these UCL tie where the margins are so tight and one ineffective kick from the GK will mean the goal conceded in the next 5 seconds, Adrian is clearly not the man who can hold his nerves. The 2nd goal is indicative of his confidence being shot... it should be saved any other day .
