Away win, 2-0 with a clean sheet.

Keita n Salah on the scoresheet.

We qualify for the knock out stages as group leaders.

Will await the draw with anticipation.

Next up, Watford at home. The games are coming really thick n fast. Hopefully the momentum n adrenaline keeps us ticking.

Crazy game riddled with ridiculously unbelievable missed chances.

Lucky Pool win with a clean sheet with 2 goals!

Top the group, so better second leg home advantage for draw of 16.

Our defence managed to keep Haaland quiet.

Problem is injury to Lovren - hope not serious.

Congrats!!😎

The difference between the 2 clubs was very marginal up and until the goals were scored.  Both sides created plenty of chances with Sazlburg going for broke and it had a few good chances which it failed to take.  Pool, on the other hand, also enjoyed the spaces afforded to it however, chances after chances went begging.  Salah was the chief culprit who failed to take at least 3-4 clear opportunities.

Keita scored first and within the next 100 seconds, magic happened. Salah took the most difficult chance all evening with his weaker foot from outside the area with an almost impossible angle.  Undoubtedly, this must be one of the UCL goals of this season.

Once the goals were scored, the game was settled with both teams largely cancelling out each other. Pool actually look the more likely team to score again but failed to add to the tally.

2nd consecutive game of clean sheet. You wouldn't bet against another one this Saturday vs Watford at home.

The only blemish is the hamstring injury to Lovren. This time it definitely doesn't look like a simple cramp and he may be out for a few weeks.  Pool is down to 2 fit CB over the festive season.  I think this position is an issue not only to Pool but also to City.  Pool have to dip into the transfer market to get at least some backups in this position.  Lovren, Matip and Gomez are not of "durable" quality that will play 30- 40 games every season.

lovren is too injury prone. Though he's a good 3rd-4th choice. He usually doesn't play more than a month even when he gets a run in the side. It's always his hamstrings.

Actually RBS played very well in the first half. High intensity in both press and overloading of key areas.

Unfortunately, this intensity cannot be replicated in the second half. We somehow have to thank the Stankovic, if he was one step faster in his decision making, both goals may not have materialize. That was their weaker link

不怕神一般的对手 只怕猪一般的队友

Unfortunately, the injury to Lov means there will be no chance to rest VVD who had started in all 16 EPL and 6 CL games. Full attendance.

Hoever and der Berg should be on the bench on Saturday for this home game against the bottom of table hornet onto their 3rd manager this season (more managerial changes than league win), hope they are ready if called upon. Without Fab to pull in form Midfield, maybe hendo (with his height) is the best of the lot to cover.

The team run out of "Red Bull" drinks in second half.....  [sweatdrop]

Energy used up in first half.

Thaksin never supply them for second half thinking that first half supply was enough to wack Liverpool ....... :=B:

actually, most teams have now tried to match pool and go toe to toe in the initial phrases of close teams.

Even if Pool do not penetrate or register goals early in the game, they no longer panic because they have sufficient experience to know that (i) their class/quality will eventually come good during the game and (ii) their fitness level is on another level so while the opposition will gradually tire along the game, Pool's superior fitness and sharpness in the later phrases of the game will again be key to registering goals and the win.

Hence, my point is that it is no coincidence that Pool has been enjoying the many late game drama week in week out.  It is because of their confidence level  + fitness conditioning.  Both of these qualities are not built over a single game or short period of time, but rather through a prolonged period of experience + conditioning.

The way RBS performed for the first half is high intensity direct football with a view to score some goals against Pool and hope to defend in the second half (suspect wanna copy Napoli format) but unfortunately they were neutralised.

Second half their front and midfield cast ran out of steam and a fitter Pool team gain the upper hand and exploit their defensive shapes through speed and direct long balls.

End of story.

Looking forward to Sat game against Watford and then Fifa CWC next week.

Pool now down to 2 first team CB only. Hope the Fifa CWC don't come out with more injury(touchwood) that could jeopardize EPL title charge

Must admit that I am more than impressed with RB Salzburg performance early yesterday morning. Man, they are good. Off from the first whistle, RB Salzburg burst out from the gates and attack us swift and furious. Good thing is that our defence was ready as well and we managed to neutralise all their attacks. 10 to 15 mins into the second half, it became obvious that RB Salzburg, despite their youthfulness, could no longer be able to keep up to the high intensity.

Credit must be given to the Coaching Team for getting the team prepared for the onslaught right from the get-go. They must have analysed multiple videos of how Salzburg played at home.

Pool should be under no illusion that it will be walk in the park especially since it was educated by RBS in the earlier fixture at anfield whereby Pool conceded 3 goals.

Within 60 sec from the start, RBS started raining down shots on goal and the defence was well prepared to be steadfast and solid.  So, credits to VVD for marshalling the line well. Alisson's class and quality were also very evident.  A clean sheet in this stadium is hard to come by.

maybe its time we have a Korean player .... That Hwang chap is not bad

Wah... Now rumours saying his team mate, Minamino is very likely to join. Coming from James Pierce ( quite legit source), could be good news.

But we seriously need defensive reinforcement
