Turbocharged

It's a given that Cat A will drop 5 to 10% due to the following reasons -

1) Many backlogs when COE was $26K last month

2) Many of the bread and butter cars have arrived, and are at the port

3) Taxis and PHV rental firms are still out of the picture

Distributors will want to max out profit and will be conservative in bidding, with many bookings when  COE was lower.

Are there many others hot selling Cat A cars around, other than avante and mazda 3? Actually mazda 3 at this price already consider selling like hot cakes, if they lower the price a bit, will it be even more people buying? Lol.

Mazda 3 may have enough room to lower the price.  They got 10K VES rebate which other competitors model don't have

But the car is full of specs and nice interior. Wonder what is OMV for this car as can't see from SGcarmart. Maybe the price is reasonable if OMV is high for this Model.

Only downside is not latest engine which is under-powered too.

It is because this car is full of specs, thats why the 10k VES not pass down to buyer? The OMV for this car is at least 20k if the mazda SE told me is true.

Anyway, which jap b&b car is using latest engine when they launched their new model le? Think most are using previous generation old engine.

If OMV is about 20K+- then they want to cash new model as much as they can and later will reduce price after hype is over.

SG market is dealers market so they will give VES rebate benefit to them-self and not to buyers if competitive model don't have same rebate. Consumer suck thumb, either govt gain (VES penalty) or AD gain (VES rebate)

Usually for new model, AD would priced the car higher first and then would reduce the price a bit, esp if the coe is low. Remember when korean cars first launched their new model, price also high de, then along the way price got reduced or they give promotion.

Won't the 10K VES be deducted from the OMV and thus affect the PARF? Meaning if 20K OMV after deducting 10k VES then PARF after 10 years only 5K?

Yes it will make less parf (5K) and high depreciation. That's the reason they are not showing OMV now to milk the new model as much as they can.

So when will be the right time to buy the mazda 3 then?

Launch car price maybe +2-3k over long term price is fine. But new Mz3 price before taking VES into account is about $25k more than old Mz3. The OMV even if $25k (vs old $13-14k OMV) cannot account for this diff. And dont forget the high OMV will suffer from VES "rebate" until u get min parf back so its worthless to have high OMV since u only get downsides like 40% downpayment. Really trying to fleece early adopter

Well we can't predict COE for sure, but if we consider COE as constant then i would prefer to wait to settle the hype first and check the real OMV figure.

If enough buyers will notice nonsense margin, rebate not pass to buyer resulting high depreciation then they have to lower the price to get the market share

By the way under-power engine is enough for me to not buy this car haha. What a shame they don't have options for engine specs for such b'ful car.

Yes that's why VES rebate gives you a false sense that it's cheaper but end of the day you lose out in PARF.

Best is still neutral band.

no worries, the omv + ves + profit margin will be revealed once the first mazda 3 is registered in LTA.

Yup. Policy not working becos all the AD are just swallowing the rebate since our car markets arent competitive enough. Exception is only those very low end budget model like Attrage

How do u check COE amount bidded by yr AD on your behalf?

What are the information to provide for the enquiry? Not sure what is the acknowledgement code to use.

Thanks so much!

LOL, policy is working bcos end of the day consumer and customer lose out. AD is neutral and man in white laughs to the bank, swallow free tax!

No, it's a rebate so this is not man in white benefiting. This is a rebate half of which is reclaim at the end thru parf deduction. So this is AD swallow everything while consumer gain no benefit from the "incentive". Which AD u work for?
