Jaguar XE

Hi Bro,  just tried this morning and realized that I had preset before.

When in R gear, with the mirror dipped, I selected that mirror and used joystick to adjust.

Works OK, however, I think it also affects that mirror in normal drive mode.

After purposely moving the mirror in R to a different position, then switching to D gear, I see the side mirror a bit off from the earlier setting.

I have also noticed over the last 7 weeks, that during day to day driving, I have had to readjust my passenger side mirror a few times.

Maybe caused by dipping mirror feature and a bit of offset for the mirror motor position?

Anyone else noticed this....

Yes, i tried the same method, put to R, tilt higher and put to P. But when put to R again, it tilt to the lowest and not my preferred tilt angle...

Oh well, have to wait for AD to provide me an answer...

A lot of highway driving for me.

Looks like i'm set to achieve 900km for my 2nd tank.. let's see.

ok, need to clarify, when u guys say 900km, is that till the Low Fuel lit up? or really till the last drop?

1st tank 700km + 100

2nd tank 800 + 100

Now 3rd week of driving onto 3rd tank...hmmm...

At this rate my warranty and servicing package will be before 3yr/100k and 5yr/80k....

But than i might be traveling more cos it is such a lovely ride...and esp love it when I noticed pple checking out the XE.

Here's my XE aka The Beast..

For those unaware of the recall:

http://ec.europa.eu/...electedTabIdx=1

To save you scrolling through the lasers and stick-on nails the details are as follows:

Brand: Jaguar

Name: XE and XF

Type/number of model: Jaguar XE and Jaguar XF (2016 and certain 2017 Model Year)

Batch number/Barcode: Selected vehicles with diesel engine within VIN range: Jaguar XE - SAJAB4C1XGA900002 to SAJAB4CN2HA942989 / Jaguar XF - SAJBB4CN4GCY00005 to SAJBB4AN4GCY20385.

Details: The under-bonnet low pressure fuel feed hose may detach from the fuel filter causing the engine to cut out and reduce brake power. Engine cut-out with minimal warning could potentially cause a vehicle crash.

Here's the clip to be installed. Located top right side...

My estimate includes what's left in the tank.

i.e. 1st Tank 700 + 100

Currently, 450+450 but I will likely hit 800+100, when the low fuel warning light comes up.

As I travel overseas quite a lot for work., so while  i'm in SG, i'll take any reason to drive the car.  haha..

Here's mine, day of collection...

The 3 litre supercharged engine is now available in the XE... Sweet little thing hehe...

I actually brought my mum to the showroom to the XE. She tried the backseat and walked out of the showroom. :( I sat in the backseat and understood why. The small glass area makes it claustrophobic. The sloping roofline compromises on headroom - my 1.72m frame made my head dig into the roof lining while seated at the backseat. My current car is a Volvo S60 T6 and even though exterior dimensions are slightly smaller, it's interior feels much airier and more headroom whereas the XE gives u a cocooning feeling. Mind you the S60 is not the most spacious in its class but compared to the XE, it has more meaningful space.

I really want to test drive this car and a good replacement to my current car would be the 3.0 supercharged model. But the love between me and my car is still very strong - all 4.5 years of it. I love 6 cylinders... Ultra smooth and sweet sounding, and effortless on the NSHW. I'm just so blessed for being able to enjoy this rather expensive but pleasant ownership experience.

By the way, a couple years ago, I spoke to someone from Wearnes Leasing side. I was told that Jaguar and Land Rover cars are their more problematic cars in terms of reliability. Common problems with the XF are stucked gear selector, and air con vents (they swivel in the XF). My uncle's XF 2.2D has an interior lamp that turns on on its own while driving and Wearnes hasn't been able to solve it till today. But otherwise, if you are able to accept such minor inconveniences and quirks, you will be rewarded by one of the finest cars to drive in its class. Maintenance and repairs won't be cheap, more so if you only service and repair at the AD which I do so. But it is comparable to all the other premium brands. To me, it is simple. If I am driving a Volvo, I want it to be seen by a Volvo specialist, and not a "GP" (outside workshop)... yes you pay more but at least there is assurance, warranty and quality. Brands under Wearnes are not common you know and not many workshops are well-versed with them.

At the end, I think it takes a special breed of people to appreciate the qualities of the XE. It wasn't built to appeal to everyone - if it were so, Jaguar could have made the car roomier if it wasn't for the space-eating and expensive suspension design that they decided to fit into the XE to allow this car to be gifted with better handling than 3 series yet offering a more pliant and refined ride. Money went into the engineering of this car, not to decorate it into something so ostentatious like the C Class or high-tech like the A4. Salute to XE owners because you guys dare to be different and go after what you like instead of what the market favours. Just like we Volvo owners (I can tell you how Volvos are worthless till the day it is scrapped). Cheers!

these 2 sentences are very contradictory.....

am i the only one that see the irony?

Bro that won't protect much against door chipping (coating protects paint from the elements but not from

Impact), 3M makes this door edge laminate to prevent paint chipping off the edges you can consider that if you want such prevention.

I used to drive a Volvo. Bought brand new and first week I already needed to send my car back. In 1.5 years, my gearbox oil and radiator inter-leaked and had to replace both of them new. Luckily was under warranty.

It is a matter of luck. Incidentally my Jag gave me less problem than my Volvo.

How about those static sunshades? Looks quite dark and can stick onto the window. But it's round shape so won't look nice fitting. Unless you get a full customized one from laser shades or groovy.

I was checking out some car reviews on Youtube, as usual many diesel cars available overseas. Out of curiosity I went to check the price of petrol and diesel in UK... gosh it's similar pricing! And they already favour diesel a lot due to the superb FC. In that case in SG it's even better since diesel is about 50% cheaper than petrol  :o  Better FC + cheaper fuel = win!

No wonder government need to charge diesel tax  <_<  <_<

Just like how motorists in SG don't benefit from low oil prices. Petrol prices are just as high as before oil price crashed.

Hi,

am interested in getting the XE Diesel. Anyone having issues with the Diesel Particulate Filter? The SE told me that for my kind of mileage (20K per year), I might have to do runs on the expressway at relatively high speed for about 20mins or so to clear the filter. Anyone has experience to share?

Thanks in advance.
