Don;t understand the rationale behind engine stop start function, especially in SG.

Trips are so short and traffic light stops last no longer than 2 mins on average.

Stop  start function will prematurely wear off your battery and engine mounting

With all input and advices from brothers, I guess I will just put a switch off of this function generally whenever

I started my engine for the trip.

Is there anyway to make this default auto SS setting from on to off? then only will turn on it if I want to activate it!

Also my in-car air circulation turn is only lasts about 5 mins then it will be back to default from external air flow, is

there a system setting we could change ourself to make it as permanently in-car air circulation setting by myself?

The in car air circulation, try depressing the button for couple secs b4 releasing.

Someone on the internet has done a study.. The fuel savings from auto as isn't significant.

More for the auto manufacturers to bypass emission requirements.

It was shown also that the most wear and tear to an engine happens during the startup...

If u are stuck in traffic jam like the causeway..

Yes, Brother,

Your petrol consumption at 10-11L/100km under city driving is a bit on the high side.

I am driving about 50km a day to/back from my work place also under city driving from North--South,  although I try to go at non peak hour for my selection, My average  FC is ~8.4l/100km with my SS switch off always nowadays.

Maybe also very much depend on our driving behavior as I am a quite gentle drive but I am speeding often as my habit naturally.

I think you are your best test subject bah

Without Start-Stop (SS), my fuel efficiency drops to 11-12L/100km; but after I got my SS working again, I managed to bring it back down to 8-9L/100km cos my route is mostly city (I counted over 21 traffic light junctions on my 18-km drive from home to work)

So in a real world situation, it's a difference of nearly 100km more on a full tank

Anyway, many studies have shown that it's a myth that the SS stresses our cars (mostly starter motor) more - my previous car had no issues with the starter motor or aux battery even after nearly 5 years

I see...

I'm just playing it safe.. since my car mounting also isn't that lasting.. so far already changed 2 sets in my near 3 years driving. The shaking during starts and stops might worsen it's life further

Hi XE owners.. my little red cat diesel is over 3 years now with 120000km clocked so far... as my warranty with wearnes have expired, i wondering if there is any recommended outside workshop for our Jaguar cars? or most of the owners here still sending their cars to wearnes?

Also, Anyone else changed a rear brake light had similar experiences?

Also, anyone here had changed a rear brake light bulb before? My rear brake light (driver side) has malfunctioned and I did tried one or two workshops at Sin Ming autocare but they claimed that they do not know how to replace the light bulbs for Jag cars haha..

Much appreciated the inputs from the XE owners here ^^

😯 3 years 120k. I only manage 180k in 7 years.

For the light bulb, you can check your owners handbook what is the bulb type and how to change it. But if it is full LED light assembly (I'm not sure), good luck. I will cause a hole in your pocket.

Consider selling since your mileage so high at 3 years? If not drive till the end because not easy to sell off yourself once >150k km

The few Jag specialist workshops quoted by other bros here are good but prices not cheap

Some general workshops can also service and are cheaper, such as Zenith Auto at Alexander etc, ask around

If major problems, better go back Wearnes

Jaguar has gone further to join the others where they manufacuture look alike models.. Was behind a new XF today.. It's rear and lights were so similar that I thought it was another XE.. Until my kid pointed to me the XF badge..

I had the impression the jag is just a ford engine. So some mech that has work on ford focus ST should suffice ? Or its more complicated than that

Jag already gradually stop using Ford engine, replacing them with their in-house Ingenium engine.

By 2020, the contract with Ford will end.  Whether the mech has experience with the Jag engine would depend which year of the Jag.  After all, the Ingenium engine is something new to the market especially in Singapore.
