My 1.0T ride is clocking way less mileage/liter than advertised. Granted that my commute is ~80% urban start-stop peak hour traffic most week days. But I am beginning to wonder if I would have been better off, fuel consumption wise, with a 1.6NA ride? 🤔

Urban start-stop traffic will always have worse fuel consumption figures, regardless of engine. Only hybrids will have better.

2yrs+ Honda Civic 1.5T

City 70% Highway 30%

Tank: 40litres
Mileage: ~430-460km range
~11km/l

Should not be divided by tank capacity but rather distance traveled over volume of petrol pumped. So yours should be around the 13km/l range.

Otherwise not much better than a 2l NA car 😁

Superb 2.0T

100% city roads ; 4 - 5 km/l

95% expressway non peak ; 16 - 17 km/l

I like your nick 😁

So what is the typical FC over a tank, or a few tanks?

2.0 cannot be 4-5Km/L so low in City Driving, must be you idling over 30-40 Mins waiting for People....My Friend S400,also can get 6Km/L in pure City Driving.

You need to use stop-start in city to boost FC. 2nd, for small cc TC car, the only way to get fc is to do more cruising on expressway when fuel is less on low load for a small cc to drive the car along. Other than that, it is never going to be as good as advertised. For the same amount of power, the engine will need the amount of fuel to produce an output. No way downsizing can give you more power for less fuel.

Everytime the car drives off, more fuel are injected as moving a vehicle off a stop is kind of a heavy load condition. I am seeing more car manufacturers are moving to mild hybrid setup such as Mazda 3, and the upcoming Golf 2020. Mild hybrid allows less fuel for the ICE to move the car with motor assist and I reckon to agree with that setup too.

Per tank can vary alot, depending on where I go.

The system logs the long term average since day 1, over >7000km todate, FC is 12km/l. Dont know how accurate this is though

yeah, cabstar drinks... 3L engine... Company i worked for has a few unit. In fact, Kia K2500 has more power than cabstar and drinks the same amount.

Somehow, lorry engine is not tuned for fuel efficiency.
