Any news about what was the cause ? The front car played brake check with BMW ?

This is a relatively new road, possibly a last min lane change to the right to KPE from the Punggol Lane. Alot of such last min lane change at this location.

Lailai... Breakfast...

seems like the White Honda had some beef with cam car. When submitting footage to TP/LTA, they require you to provide the full video. ie. from the 1st moment you see the car until the left is out of sight. Paints a better picture

wah lan eh, at first I trying to see where the kamikaze cyclist came from ... OORBIGOOD !!

One is a PMD/cyclist beating the red light

One is a car that abruptly changed lanes in the middle of an intersection

When one idiot meets another idiot, spectacular things can happen!

well, it could be the car in front ZAM brake to avoid cyclist, so car behind swerved left to avoid but tio TOTO  [laugh]

My guess is that the van driver probably did not see the aunty the whole time, even at the point of impact, till after he got off his van to see who/what he had hit

At the point of impact, the van driver's head was probably still looking right. Just after the impact, the aunty might already have gone under the front left wheel in which is already out of the driver's sight when he turned his head to the left.. Not knowing he had actually hit someone or guessing he had run over debris on the road, he did not stop immediately and let his rear left tyre go over the aunty as well, killing her.

Yes, the van driver should have kept a proper lookout. But he definitely did not expect a person right there and then. At 33 years old and if he had not chalked driving hours and experience, plus maybe the sense of complacency and defensive mode of driving, he never saw it coming.

Similar situations can happen to large vehicles when making left turns at controlled junctions. Upon seeing flashing green men or even red men while stationary at junction, large vehicles like coaches and cement mixers checked that it was clear to move off, only to run over someone dashing for it with their rear left tyre. How do we expect such drivers to feel anything, until the wheel has gone over the person?

in the beginning of the video, I has a hard time spotting the auntie too... as she "blended" into the background.

Good TP, ensure good driving discipline.

This type of vans are usually school bus for fetching school children, the way he drive is very dangerous considering the high CG and poor handling of a van, this guy should be removed from driving.

TP car already stopped, car behind TP could not stop in time. Note the air bags deployed in car behind TP.

Good observation. Jokes aside, 2 second rule may not be sufficient for such scenario, the fact that so many cars had failed to stop in time, I would think the braking was very sudden, the only way to avoid such accidents is for us to keep a slightly longer safety distance when travelling at higher speed. And even if we could stop in time using the 2 second rule, not every drivers behind us could be so attentive, or having an as effective brake as the one in front. So drive safe folks! Such accident quite common to happen, can always see cars when doing right turn like to 'eat' into other car lane or some even turn straight into other lane. They simply dont know how to keep to the correct lane while turning?!   [sweatdrop]

Wish to see this happening on the expressways daily (I mean the catching of these reckless van drivers, not speeding vans that change lane recklessly)

Very good, speed some more la, driving F1 van, it’s so satisfying to see karma happen.

It must have been travelling quite fast compared to other traffic for it to go from Toa Payoh where it overtook the camera car to Toh Guan where it got pulled over.

You deserve it!

Grey kept to the line...white no line as guide, agar agar turned and hit...

In the eyes of insurers both wrong though white more wrong than grey.

White can try that driving style with buses and tipper trucks which are regular at that junction in SK.

This van driver sway to bump onto TP. As commercial vehicles speeding on expressway like F1 happen so commonly on the road.
