Proof that conti cars like Audi still fair better than Honda Civic Type R.

While most conti cars are built tougher which means will help reduce the extent of damage in a case of collision, I choose to believe the extent of the damage mainly depending on how closely one tailgate the other and their reaction speed. If one tailgates the front car too closely , the impact will be greater as he will have little time to react. or if he reacts too late, the side effect will be the car behind will also be given lesser time to react, causing a heavier impact during the collision. So in a chain collision, not all damage are equal,  the one who tailgate closely will suffer more severe damage.

so what you are saying is if a vehicle is stationary at the point of impact will be more rigid or because of the two vehicle in motion, at the point of impact the speed is different and hence one vehicle from behind will fair worst than the vehicle (audi) in front ?

I am saying if a car maintains sufficient safety distance, he would have more time to stop, even if he could not, by the time his car comes into contact with the front one, the speed would have been significantly reduced, thereby reducing the damage of collision. That means, when all else equal, a  car that has a longer safety distance will likely to have less damage than one who tailgates closely. That is one of the possibilities why in a chain collision, some cars have more severe damage than  others. Of cause there are other reasons as well, like brake efficiency, toughness of a car, driver alertness .

When one sees a crumpled hood, it may not mean the car is lesser built .. it depends on how the car was designed.

On the other hand, Jap cars tend to maximise fuel economy by making their cars lighter. So something has to give, and typically there is a frame which is reinforced, whilst the metalwork is relatively thin, and tends to bend or fold or dent.

But hey, don't whine about the FC then if you want a heavy car.... or get a car with the latest tech, which offers good wind resistance, a good engine and yet has solid metalwork..

So all, please as much as we could, keep a good safety distance .  A good distance would be one that allow ourselves to stop in time in case of an ebrake situation

just to add: BBK doesn't stop you faster; it only helps to delay brake fade when you are doing repeated hard braking (like when on track).

No fault, it is stupid to be parking so close to a big vehicle , turning some more.  Maybe inexperience, now he learned.
