My car Sharan is almost 3 years. Not sure I should continue to service my car at VW. Is their maintenance package worth considered ? How about their extended warranty package? Anyone has experience?

My opinion would be just service/repair your car at outside workshops specializing in VW cars. My VW car group of friends and myself we goes to our own workshop outside. All of us did not have good after sales service at VCS.

It depends on how much the extended warranty  would cost and the coverage of the warranty.

Got the offered extended 2 warranty price for Sharan -$3800

take it up only because you are willing to pay(a lot)for convenience of not searching for an outside workshop.

you would also need to factor in cost of regular car servicing until the end of 5th year which will include major service at 60k km.

also check what is covered under the extended warranty, wear and tear items are mostly not.  and those are exactly the items that are usually and possibly due for replacement within the 5 years, eg engine mounts, drive shafts, battery, auxiliary belt, tensioner(?) etc

😬

Worth it only if your DSG gearbox is showing symptoms of a breakdown.

i can't agree more. The good is this specialist cannot guarantee their repair recommendation will solve your problem on 1st time. Only $$ + $$...

CarCreed at 13 Kaki Bukit Road 4, #03-22/23, Bartley Biz Centre Singapore

Went once, car vibrates on idling. They told me to change 3 sensors - MAF, etc. Can't remember how much but in 4 figures if I can recall.

Servotronic told me to change engine mounting, also 4 figures of high 3 figures. Not sure why all these workshop cannot try the basic troubleshooting.

Ended up, I went to clean up throttle body for $30. Solved all problem, thank you to google.

Else how to make money. Trial and error at customer expense. Some workshop even better. After changing many things, they say it’s like that one, dunno! And then choose to play delay and act blur tactics.

That why I continue to go back to VW for servicing after my 3 year warranty.

I bought a service package 75k 90k 105k, for $1275 inclusive of gst.

On top of that, any replacement or repair carried out during this period will have 30% discount.

I just went for my 90k servicing. My ride is passat 1.8T highline. Bought in Dec 2015 from VW.

Purchased a prepaid service package for my Sharan which included 3 services (60, 75, 90K), cost $2035. The are no details or terms stated when I bought it, other than the package is non-refundable or transferable.

I sent in my car for 60K service and was informed by VW that I have to pay $600 for gearbox oil change, which is not included in the prepaid service package, even though this is recommended at 60K service.

If something is routine at 60K service and not included in the service package, the customer must be informed. Otherwise, isn't it deceptive business practice?

so what items are  included in the pre-paid service package? just the usual oil and the 3 filters - oil, air, fuel?
