Bet he never seen a crash test of a chinese car as well.

The current ones are ok la bro. The Geely No Moon, aka Proton X70 scored full marks in ANCAP

The upcoming Geely Binyue, or Proton X50 will be the same too

Opps my bad.. Here's how it looked like back then. Rem all these were circa 2010 crash test standards. 2019 will be way stricter than then...

That Chery COE car prob scored -2 in today's crash tests

I still rem they were the 1st FWD Mitsubishi, and together with the Tredia and Galant, they had a 4MT plus a lever to select different final drive ratios. Why not just install a 5MT instead of offering such complicated gearbox? :D Those were the days indeed LOL.

But becos of this setup, drivers have a 8 SPEED MANUAL in essence.. Can impress your friends abit

yes, I still remember driving my crush's dad Galant  with an extra level

that's 4 x 2 = 8 speeds man..... 🤣

this type of dual range gearbox is more commonly found in vehicles designed to go off-road, such as the Land Rover Defender. My 2001 Subaru Forester also had this hi-lo function (mated to a 5MT), but the low range gear ratio reduction wasn't as hard core as the one in the Defender.

Probably saves weight (and space) compared to a 10speed gearbox [laugh]

Spotted this evening. Haven't seen one for perhaps 10 years. I remember it was bigher than this:

I just saw one few days ago.

An ex colleague bought one of this years ago. SGH plated. He chose this because of its low floor clearance. So, fetching his edged in-laws would be more convenient.
