One way is to buy and install a ready-made kit, like this Another way is old skool, by tempering the adjusting a screw below each lamp pods. Troublesome, while the effect is quite limited. It's a cheap method though. BTW, "sleepy eyes" involve two headlamps, while "winking eye" involved one headlamp. Flip-up lamps were a fad (and very cool) during the 80-90s. Here's a video for all flip-up lamp car lovers Don't those pop-up headlights affect aero dynamics of the sport cars somehow when they are opened? ↡ Advertisement
code10 2nd Gear July 18, 2022 Share July 18, 2022 @DOBIEMKZ For normal driving situation (say legal speed of 80km/hr), aero wouldn't have significant effect. On the other hand, Impact of aero in racing world would be more significant. Minor tweaks (some are not even noticable) could shave-off a few miliseconds per lap. Under 20 laps, there is plenty of time saved. if got time, check out this article about gurney flap, bro. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurney_flap

Hence, car manufacturers don't bother anymore. Also, advance in technology means that headlamps can be slim and lowline and doesnt need to be round, so its possible to have a low front for that sporty look.

I googled up and seems that they are banned in many European countries! Mainly due to some safety requirements.

code10 2nd Gear July 19, 2022 Share July 19, 2022 On top of that, flip up lamps cost more money to manufacture..... and they weight (due to drive motor, mechanism, frame, etc) so much more compared to present plastic lamps. Still, these cool flip up lamps make head turns any day and anywhere.

code10 2nd Gear July 19, 2022 Share July 19, 2022 @Mockngbrd yes, that is true. Lambo used this nissan's headlamp in their cars. I wonder what Nissan and Lambo were thinking at that time.
code10 2nd Gear July 19, 2022 Share July 19, 2022 @Hamburger Indeed this model (Z32) has captured my hearts. I like it too, esp the low and sporty wedge shape. Fixing or servicing the engine can be nightmare though. Just take a look of the tight engine compartment. However, certain people says it's ok and acceptable, becoz this car got "character".
