Deceloped countries all have low fertility rates. Lower than replacement.

China did the right thing, too bad India didn't do the same.

Anyway another asteriot will hit earth again and wipe out humans. The earth will be reset and cockroaches will take over!

China's doctrine is communist based , LLST people will listen

India being the worlds largest democracy, LLST govt have to listen

As of 2017, China has 241m old people.  This is almost the entire population of Indonesia.

By 2050, China is projected to have 487m old people.

In 2016, China government relax the 1 child policy to 2 child.  Birth rate continue to fall until the lowest level in 2018.  Maybe 2019 will be another record year.

So, did China do the right thing? Yes until maybe Y2k.  From thereon, it should be relaxed.

After Xi's climate surprise, no biodiversity announcement

"Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday (Sep 30) urged global cooperation to protect the Earth's biodiversity but stopped short of making a major environmental commitment at a UN summit... "

How to commit? He needs to convince his countrymen to stop eating wildlife first.  [laugh]

UN Secretary General Guterres said we're in a code red situation, and that the latest Climate report must be 'death knell' for fossil fuels. How SG Govt's response to that with policy on local gasoline consumption will likely influence my next car purchase decision.

UN sounds clarion call over humans 'irreversible' impact on climate

The UN panel on climate change sounded a dire warning on Monday (Aug 9), saying the world is dangerously close to runaway warming – and that humans are "unequivocally" to blame. Already, greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere are high enough to guarantee climate disruption for decades if not centuries, scientists warn in a report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). That’s on top of the deadly heat waves, gargantuan hurricanes and other weather extremes that are happening now, and are likely to become more severe.

Human hunting of wild life for food is a norm in the early days. Today, people consume for other reasons. Banning is a way to go and the source of these food should be clearly established. Not easy for some countries though.

I wasn't aware we're still burning coal for electricity in SG.  😲

Singapore pledges to phase out unabated coal in electricity mix by 2050

In the first half of this year, some 95 per cent of Singapore's electricity was generated with natural gas, the cleanest form of fossil fuel. Coal made up 1.2 per cent, diesel and fuel oil made up 0.6 per cent, while waste-to-electricity, biomass and solar energy accounted for the remaining 3.2 per cent, figures from the Energy Market Authority show.

They aim for 1.5 degree increase.

All the politicians promised only managed to get 2.7 degrees.

And these are aims with no concrete plans.

An aim without a plan is just a wish.

:D

So we won't even get 2.7

Why Boris organize COP26?

Britain is an island.

1/3 will be under the sea.

:D

We no need to worry in SG

Unless you stay East Coast.

I hope they have a plan.

I mean a real plan lah.

She also blah blah blah. Other than going on strikes and opposing world leaders, she has no solutions to climate problems.
